Honestly, I couod see Pittsburgh  moving all the way to 3 to get Sanders. Their window is now and Tomlin  clock is ticking. Their roster doesn't have many holes, so picks shouldn't worry them.  Depends on the Giants mindset but they could bend them over and get future 1st since they don't have any 2nds.

They reached for Pickett, so they are not immune to it.  I could see that as well.  I just think the Colts are flying under the radar and they have been too quiet concerning their QB situation--of course, they could think Jones is their guy (they had a good one named Jones a long time ago) but I think they are done with the Richardson experiment.   Even if I believed in Jones, I would still draft a QB--I also read one mock that said the Jets would take Sanders if he falls to 7---I disagree, but I was once wrong and it still bothers me.

The Steelers didn't move up for Pickett, he was at their original draft slot and he was a home town kid too.  They ain't moving up for Sanders, at least not that high.  If he drops outside of the top 10, they might make a move.  Jaxson Dart seems to be the a popular match for them.

Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.

Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples.

Tershawn Wharton - 26
Tre'von Moehrig - 25
Pat Jones II - 26
Bobby Brown III - 24
Michael Jackson - 28
Jaycee Horn - 25
Tommy Tremble - 24
We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26.

Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.

The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team.

Pick 8 (stay)
Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham
Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson

Trade down:
There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down.
Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.

How many players that were drafted by the Panthers that are not currently on or just got off of (draft class of '21) their rookie deals still on the team?

Two-Moton'17  and Brown '20.  We fugging suck at developing talent.

I'm still shocked the Steelers were dumb enough to take Kenny fuging Pickett in the 1st round. Holy poo that dude is trash.

I ain't never in my life seen a QB get thrown by the ball until Kenny Pickett did that poo. LOLOLOL

Funny as crap, but I see what he did.  Sorta the 'tuck rule'--so mid-pass he had second thoughts and tried to pull the ball down, but since he has such small hands to avoid the ball slipping out due to the inertia of aborted pass, he had to cradle the ball for security and realized he just had to eat it instead of fumbling, which he did anyhow.

I thought Aaron Roger’s to the Steelers was 90% a done deal. So why would they trade away the farm to move up for a qb? Dart should be there at 21.

Think they're really liking the DL R1.  Tyleik Williams is a hot name for them.

if Sanders makes it past 3 its going to get weird..

I think he does, but right this moment I think some team trades into 4-7. I believe what everyone else has- ward, Carter, and hunter are the top three locks. After that either Campbell, trade/snaders, Walker, jeanty are the next picks in no order. Panthers take Williams with Graham on the board.

All of the people who are now developing the talent just got here last year on offense and the defense has not had very much talent to develop.

Matt Rhule and his staff sucked at developing talent.
Frank Reich and his staff sucked at developing talent.

The owner and the name of the team may remain but unless Tepper is out there running players through drills it's completely fictitious to say we currently suck at building talent.

We don't know how good Canales and staff are at building talent but we know that is a focus of his because of what he's done with past QB's and Bryce as well as the type of players he's getting in FA.

Eh. Evero has been here through now 2 coaching regimes. He also pushed for guys like DJ Johnson and has apparently had significant enough input on some free agency moves too.

At this point nobody knows about Canales. Even Bryce Young's progress has to be taken with a grain of salt. The rubber has to meet the road in a big way in 2025.

But I think it's fair to say the plan from the front office seems to be to let Canales focus on the offense. Although some people could rightly argue he needs to be more hands on across the roster given the fact his defense was 32/32 last season.

And look let's be real here. Virtually everyone here is going to agree Rhule was a conman and not a good NFL head coach by any means. But he did swindle our owner out of a generational amount of money. That cannot be understated.

With Reich though while he was not the man for the job he didn't even coach here a full season. Saying he didn't develop anyone while giving our front office a pass for their egregiously subpar drafting before and after he was gone (see our 2024 2nd round pick) seems odd.

The simple fact of the matter is we need to both draft significantly better and we need to develop talent better.
