and we still have folks screaming for Warren or tet

Gotta outscore the opponent, so it makes sense to me.  Again, I'm all for Graham if he's available, but if not, we can get a mediocre pass rusher/3rd down specialist in the 2nd round.  None of the Edge guys after Carter are close to generational, heck Carter himself isn't that and he's the clear and unquestioned #1 Edge prospect.

So do we take a A-/B+ prospect at Edge just because we need it or take a A+/A TE or WR and solidify a group missing that one last piece?  There's an old adage that goes kinda like this: To cover up a weakness, make your strongest asset(s) even stronger.

Wharton is "literally just a rotational player," until he isn't. Guys can only take advantage of the opportunities given to them, and of course some of that is going to depend upon the circumstances---the setting in which he is playing.

Yes, this same logic could also be used for every player on our roster and practice squad.

I wouldn't include basically any of them in the "potential core player" category as I basically outlined it.

I don't see him that way because he was a rotational player and I am not sure he will be more than that here.

If I am wrong and he really flourishes here, great. That contract will make a lot more sense and I will have more faith in Dan & Co.

I mean the main reason for not talking about ezeiruaka at 8 is cause no one else has.

I think he's in the massive size tier 2 group 4-44...

He's short if your talking top ten traits......which is why Im not high on walker.

He could be rising as we post in this thread, wait until one week before and you may hear him into the top ten.

Walker I do like quite a bit but I generally think he is a true LB and not an EDGE.

His arm length and wingspan negates any concerns about his height. He is around 250 lbs, pretty much the same as Watt and other elite 3-4 rushers, so that is also not a major concern. Honestly, I don’t really see why he isn’t ranked higher overall. I’m a big fan.

Boston College edge Donovan Ezeiruaku and Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen w/ pre-draft visits w/ the Panthers on Monday, per league sources.
• Ezeiruaku was ACC Def. Player of Yr w/ 16.5 sacks, 2nd in FBS behind Mike Green.
• Nolen 6.5 sacks last yr after transferring from Texas A&M.

I like all the players the team has brought in for visits

I sometimes question why the mention height when most edge defenders are around 6'2.   Maybe it's bc he was a senior and then are nitpicking.

I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.

Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.

Reason? There's not 1 single player in this draft worth trading up for, including Carter. Is that enough for you?

Now now. We have to hold on to the dream that some idiot team, not us but some other idiot team, will be itching to trade up to 8 for a ransom in order to draft a player that could and should be our next big bust.
