Ez was the most fun prospect to armchair scout this offseason for me. Even more so than Tyler Warren.

At 8 is a bit of a reach, IMO. But, that said, while I don't think he ends up being the best pass rusher in this draft, I have very little fear of him being a bust. I suspect he will be very productive in his NFL career.

He'd make a living as a 3rd down pass rush specialist at the very least. I'm a little concerned about how he'll hold up against the NFL run game and an NFL OL because his game revolves around his speed, agility, and tenacity.

If he can convert speed-to-power against pro linemen tho? He's going to be goooooood.

I kinda tried to say this before last year's draft, the student and the master yadda yadda, but no one was listening.

And I'm trying to be optimistic. But for a "football guy with good instincts with the right training" we didn't really hit on anyone until UDFAs. It's still early to judge that draft, but... 

Morgan needs to make a homerun here.

That is his weakest part of him as a prospect is getting swallowed up in the run game and not having advanced capabilities in the power rush game.

I do think he could end up bulking up and just generally getting stronger to bridge that gap, I am just not sure he will ever truly be an elite guy across the board.

Yeah. I get pointing out that we're light on core talent on D but those folks too often overlook that if you're approaching our receivers and TEs it's the same story. Chuba Hubbard is our star offensive skill positions weapon. Oh wee mayne.

Oh 100%. There are some "potential" core players on offense, namely Bryce and Ikey. Could easily be Lewis or Hunt, as well.

But I have pretty specific criteria for being a "core" player.

- Long or longer term contractual commitment.

- Player that is AT LEAST an above average NFL starter at their position.

- Be a team leader or locker room leader(does not have to be a rah-rah guy, a leader by example would qualify).

Any of Bryce or the OL guys don't tick all of those boxes yet so I don't consider them "core" guys. 

But the "potential" pool in defense is basically zero.

He’s better in the run game than people realize and has great length. Hard to know how he’ll stack up against every bigger OT out there but he managed against some big ones in 2024. Of course, could start situationally but he’s not necessarily a shrimp. His length and wingspan matches plenty like Highsmith and Bonitto who are great players with big careers still ahead of them.

Ez is also the only prospect in this draft with a legit Von ghost move. Easily the most advanced pass rusher in this draft. He would be working tackles for a few quarters, get them thinking they know how he’s attacking and then switch up with his hands and moves super effectively. Great chess player. When you’re talking advanced, he was using pro-vet level technique at times.

Plenty of teams in the teens are eyeing him. Perfectly reasonable target for us, I mean, I definitely prefer him over Mykel, Shemar, Pearce and Green. We’ve met with him.

He looks good to me. He doesn't project well to the 4-3 but that isn't what we run. He looks like a football player vs a project. His height is fine, so he isn't  6'6". 22 reps so not week but still needs work there which is very attainable. He will be 22 in September.

Lots to like. This would be a solid pick at 8 or better yet a hop back and then take this guy after others take some of the other 'yeah, but' guys.

If we don't have two in Tershawn Wharton and Tre'Von Moehrig then we made two big ass mistakes in free agency. If those signings pan out we should have at least four core players on D in Brown, Horn, Wharton, and Moehrig. I would consider Jackson at CB as a "potential". Same with Trevin Wallace at LB.

I wouldn't hate the pick. I'm honestly not sure why he hasn't been talked about as a potential guy to go higher. People are talking about him being a one year wonder but he had 8.5 sacks two years ago as a sophomore. The two sack junior season is definitely eyebrow raising and I'm sure teams will be watching the hell out of that film to figure out why he had that massive dip.

Definitely baffling. I have no idea why you're paying a safety big money in today's NFL when he's a liability in coverage. The era of the undersized LB at safety is over.

The only way it works is if you run a cover three scheme and you have a Earl Thomas or Ed Reed caliber player at FS. And even then I think you're best served to try to use that in the box SS as a position to save cap space. You're not trying to pay that guy. You just want a "check the box" player there because that type of player isn't highly sought after (or at least shouldn't be) in today's NFL.
