Here's why St.Pierre is starting QB

I would've waited two at least to see if he just needed to shake of the memories of the playoff debacle.

We as a fan base didn't do much to help the issue either after the game (we tore the poor guy to pieces), but I guess that can't be an excuse for an NFL QB. He never used it as one either, so, I'll give that to his credit.

Oh yeah, I have all the respect in the world for Jake. I still, however, maintain that Moore is a better quarterback. The team as a whole this year is just abysmal.

I don't know why I'm letting all this St. Pierre vs. Pike stuff get to me. In truth, I don't really care. I just think it's laughable that a player like St. Pierre even has the chance to start at the NFL level right now.

Oh well, I guess we'll be entertained this Sunday.

I think Pike should be getting the start as well, but, it really doesn't matter I guess.

and I love how people are jumping the gun on St. Pierre before the game when we don't really know how good or bad he is. Just because he is a journeyman doesn't justify that he is good or bad.

yeah, but that is the thing......St. Pierre really doesn't fit the journeyman definition.

We DO know what he is. He is a career practice squad QB and 3rd string QB. Again, the fact he wasn't even deemed good enough to get preseason reps over his career speaks volumes about the guy.

I will pull for him....but it isn't realistic to call him a vet or journeyman QB.

Does anyone actually think this is a bad move to start St. Pierre? Do you really think he will make it through the whole game without getting killed? Would you rather have Pike beheaded or this St. Pierre guy? Maybe once they behead one quarterback we can bring in Pike and they will have their back-ups in by then. That way, Pike can get some reps.

I love how all of a sudden we are getting all of these injuries. Injuries that would normally keep people out for a couple weeks is a season ending injury. I don't say I blame them but you have to admit it is kind of funny. I doubt I would get an injection either to play a game that doesn't mean anything, but it is kind of sad we tolerate this type behavior. Go watch a Bills game then turn to the Panthers. The intensity is not even a comparison. Bills suck as well but at least they are trying.

Fox defends QB choice

A day after announcing that journeyman quarterback Brian St. Pierre would start Sunday against Baltimore, Panthers coach John Fox defended his decision to go with St. Pierre over rookie Tony Pike.

St. Pierre has been with the team for eight days, but got the nod over Pike, the team’s sixth-round pick in last April’s draft.

“All our decisions are based on right away who gives us the best chance to win. I think (Pike) understands that. I think everyone in that locker room understands that,” Fox said after Friday’s practice.

“He understands he’s a young player learning. It’s really pretty easy to understand.”

Fox said Pike, who ran a spread offense at Cincinnati, needs more time – either through practice or game reps.
