Here's why St.Pierre is starting QB

I don't think a guy who has been sitting at home for months.....with 5 career pass attempts in the NFL.....after 4 practices gives you the "best" chance to win.

bottom line is now more than ever, it is about our youth learning to win. There really is no logic in starting him over Pike. Pike knows the playbook better, Pike is in better shape, Pike has more chemistry w/ WRs, and Pike possibly has a chance at a future here.

How is getting Pike beat up in a meaningless game going to help his future with the Panthers? In case some of you haven't noticed, Davidson's passing attack is about as un rookie QB friendly as it gets.

I can't agree with ya on yet another rookie qb.

It is a possibility, but not in stone. If they were to draft another qb, I don't see them keeping clausen. They'd trade him away, even for a 3rd or 4th round pick. Whatever. They could get for him. They aren't going to keep clausen if they are going in another direction.

So whether its clausen, pike, vet orrrrrrr rookie qb, pike, vet... pike the project will prolly still be a panther IMO.

Panthers do not trade players often, and they're not going to part with a young 2nd rounder for a 4th round pick after one year, Luck or not. Other teams keep two young QBs, and a veteran. It's nothing new.

what is the point in giving them to St. Pierre?

here's a better question... whats the point in keeping fox around any longer?

Guaranteed salary. Fire him and you still have to pay him.

Add in that if he gets fired, he can start to distance himself from the train wreck of this season, which may be what he wants.

Keep him and yes, he may further sabotage the team, but it'd be a pretty stupid move given that his name would be attached to whatever disaster he created.

Add in that we really don't have anyone waiting in the wings.

Were it me, I'd certainly be tempted to go ahead and fire him. Objectively though, there is some logic to keeping him tyill the end of the year.

Who would you have run the team? Supposedly, Meeks is not a good communicator and Davidson can't even do a decent job at OC. People say we can't do worse, but that's not even close to being true. Nobody else on this coaching staff has the first damn clue about how to run an NFL team.

Fox will be gone when the season is over, whether he is fired or leaves on his own. In the meantime, firing him now just to satisfy the blood lust of a few fans will not help this team in any way shape or form.

Maybe all you message board experts are wrong, and Fox actually believes the guy gives them a decent chance to win. Just because some of you assume that Fox is just giving the team the finger, doesn't make it a fact.

if you have to pay him regardless.....why keep him when he clearly is distancing himself from this youth movement mindset. The season is over....the only positive we can get is really going all in w/ the faith in the youth. That means Armanti not being behind journeymen players like Clowney and Thomas. That means Pike over St. Pierre.

The Bucs wouldn't be as good this year if Morris was did was Fox is doing last year.

but again, even St. Pierre voiced how suprised he was by Fox's "logic".

No poo its nothing new. Glad ya got that out of your system.

If the new coach is any good, he certainly won't keep clausen if he gets a new qb in the draft.

Of course he's surprised that he's starting on such short notice. Wouldn't you be?

Also, do any of you really believe that if it was up to Fox, there wouldn't have already been a veteran QB on the roster? It's not his fault that St. Pierre is the guy he's stuck with, but he is still a veteran and knows 100 times more about how to play in the NFL than Pike.

Pike has more than twice as many snaps in the NFL as St. Pierre.

As St. Pierre told Fox......responding to Fox claiming about how a vet can step into this situation....he doesn't have the resume for such talk.

St. Pierre likely doesn't even have the stamina to play a full NFL game.....it makes no sense.

Dude, St. Pierre has been in lots of different NFL offenses and has had a lot more practice reps than Pike has. And as far as getting Pike experience for the future of the Panthers...why should Fox care about that more than trying to win right now?
