Canes sign Bodie, Trade for White and Sutter

Canes have signed Forward Troy Bodie off of waivers from the Ducks and have traded Forward Tom Kostopoulos and Defensemen Anton Babchuk to the Calgary Flames for Brett Sutter and Ian White.

Brett is the son of the General Manager of the Flames Darryl Sutter and is the cousin of Brandon who's dad Brent Sutter coaches the Flames.

Ian White is a top defensemen and will be paired in one of the top two lines. White has tallied two goals and four assists this year. Sutter has tallied one assist this year.

I wish they would have traded Harrison instead of Babchuk because Babchuk can score from the point.

If Babchuk were still here we would have one of the best defensive crews in the league.

I like what JR is doing with this trade. He's sending a message to the team that he wants to see absolute grit and effort even from the smaller names. I kinda wish we kept Babs though, oh well. 2 Sutters!

JR is a great GM. He knows when to make moves. White should strengthen our d quite a bit.

Babchuk is a pretty terrible defenseman with little upside. He has a strong shot, but his talents stop there. Glad to see him moved.
