Google CEO says Android Update "could replace credit cards"

Yes and yes. There are 3 types of RFID. Passive RFID has no battery source and requires an external electromagnetic field to initiate transmission, active RFID has a battery and can transmit signals once an external source has been identified, and battery assisted passive RFID, which requires an external source to "wake up" but have a greater transmission range because of the battery.

There are security risks, but things have started to change such as "rolling codes" where the tag ID changes after each use.

lol that is so incredibly wrong.

Stuff like this can be really insecure though, simply because the web itself is inherently insecure. These new devices are just exposing the weaknesses more and more.

Anyway, I really want to get a droid phone, I've had it with this iphone/at&t bullpoo. Just last week I started learning the API for droid development and it's pretty damn cool. Now I just need to think of an app that can make me millions.

True the web is generally unsecure, although not really any less secure than carrying around a big wad of cash, or using your credit card in a restaurant or store. Those actions are also inherently insecure.

As far as using open source code, it has its advantages and disadavantages.

One of the coolest things I have seen at a trade show (purely devlopemental for now) was a little device that plugs into a phone and acts as a seperate firewall and intrustion detection device, and actually analyzes incoming and outgoing traffic seperate from the phones software. It can be programmed with various security settings. Its about the size of my thumb. All you have to do is plug it in to a USB port on the phone.
