The Panthers have drafted pretty well for the most part. We have gotten ridiculously good value out of our late round picks for years, and it seems like we can't miss on a 1st rounder. Need to get a little better in the middle rounds, but overall we've done really well.

This is ridiculous on it's face. Every GM brings in several free agents every year, and most of them don't make it out of training camp.

When we needed starters, Hurney went out and found them. You can say Peete sucked, but he brought us from 1-15 to 7-9. You can criticize others, but the ones that stuck did so because they earned a spot. The ones that didn't cost us next to nothing, so I think they were fair gambles.

And he's had misses in the draft, but who hasn't? He's managed to hit on all his first rounders, and he's found more than a few gems late.

He's a good GM. Your post does a decent job of suggesting otherwise, but when you compare him to everyone else the argument just disintegrates....

Hurney failed in finding a QB to replace Jake. Game over.

Is it that, or is it that he thought Matt Moore was better than he is?

I would argue that his failure was in allowing Fox to hire Davidson, but overall he's been outstanding at managing the cap and stocking the roster with talent.
