Cam Newton

He'll certainly go in the first round. He's probably got a better (but still very much unproven) arm than The Golden Calf of Bristol, but I question how any QB that depends on his legs can survive in a league with the Mayo's, Willis's and Beason's of the world waiting to kill you on the other side of the line of scrimmage.

All I keep hearing is Andrew Luck this and Andrew Luck that, hes not going to be that good in the NFL... Just have this feeling about him, Injury Prone maybe, I dont know. Just not a good feeling about him.

Back to Cam Newton I think he will wait to see whats going on with the Lock out situation, If there is a lock out then no dont go, he will miss a year of football, if not then why not, he will go for it then... He is something to watch...

if we somehow don't pull off the #1 overall and/or don't get harbaugh as coach, sure i would go after newton. i'd probably be looking at a HC that would be more interested in just letting newton play and trust his instincts. the dude has mammoth potential in the league. he reminds me of big ben except mobile.

a HC that would is Auburns's Offensive coordinator...Gus Malzhan. he runs the no huddle offense, and created the Wildcat formation when he was the OC in Arkansas(Darren McFadden/Felix Jones) which means if we did get him, Armanti most likely have a bit more playing time. If we got him though, I'd want Trooper Taylor as well, the WR coach at Auburn. the guy is pumped up...almost literally all the time.

Yes I am a Bama fan.

 if we hire a college OC for a NFL head coach we are worse off than i imagned

no kidding. college HC transitioning to a pro HC is a bit of a stretch and, frankly, harbaugh is the only one i could see really pulling it off. a college OC transitioning to a pro HC...pretty insane right there.

So let me get this straight Andrew Luck isn't going to be good in the NFL but Armanti is the next big thing if they let him play QB.....

    • In the same order I listed it. 1. Fix the talent evaluation 2. Use that better evaluation to build an NFL caliber roster 3. Continue to build depth and plan to replace key people as they age out and price out.    Those are the cornerstones of building long term success in terms of roster makeup. Even at times in our history when we got Step 1 correct and then did a decent job of Step 2, we have never been able to maintain Step 3 for various FO and coaching/on field reasons. This is essentially what Richardson was trying to do with the thought of emulating the Steelers. Our execution has just been horrible. And we don't need to hit HR after HR at any of those steps, we just need to get more right than wrong. And you need to get the critical elements correct(core players, coaches, etc). Once that starts to go sideways, the whole thing falls apart and we are back to the boom and bust cycle.   As far as what we as fans can do? Nothing but watch. We the franchise, well they already think they are doing these things. I heartily disagree so we will see what happens.
    • I really liked XL.  But I'm not expecting much from him this year given he is paired with Bryce.  I just think for XL to shine with his talents.....he needs a downfield gambler.  I think Brooks will slowly be brought along and we don't see his debut until in season.     That's our top 3 rounds...and really where you would be looking for rookie impact.  Rest should more than likely be developmental and have minimal impact.  So I expect fans to get down on our draft picks early.  I think the G play could get praise but C being such a wildcard (as well as Canales' run game) has that as not the lock I think some have it has.  Plus, I think Bryce simply can make the OL look bad given his size the problem he has in so many traditional settings/placement in the pocket.
    • Okay so when is that changing? How does it change, and how do we operate in the meantime?
