Vick=Superman

Someday

What have they done in the playoffs since Vick left? Ryan is in his 3rd year and hasnt won a playoff game. Vick today is still more popular than Ryan is in Atlanta. Ryan isnt trash, he's a good QB and has played well for Atlanta, but being a successor to Vick is a tough act to follow..

Ryan went 11-5 and went to the playoffs in his rookie year and lost to a Kurt Warner led Cardinals team that went all the way to the Superbowl and damn near won it. That's a lot more than Vick did in his rookie year.

Had he not missed 2 games with an injury (both of which were Falcons losses), he might have had a chance to go to the playoffs in 2009. We aren't the only team that covets back to back winning seasons, the Falcons hadn't had it happen in the history of their franchise, not even with Vick. Matter of fact, if the Falcons only win 2 more games (very likely with 2 games against the Panthers on the schedule), Ryan will have led the franchise to more winning seasons in his first 3 years then Vick had in 6. Ryan's record as a starter is 27-12, again better than Vick.

As far as popularity goes, Vick did draw a number of bandwagon fans who ulitmately were fans of him before being fans of the franchise and left as soon as he went to jail. That doesn't change the fact that current and longtime fans are more than happy with Ryan as their guy for the future.

Vick was beating Brett Favre in Lambeau in only his 2nd year.

Washington is a mess, but their defense is the only team to beat Vick this season.

So the quarterback wins games for teams when it's convenient for the argument, yet so do defenses. That's kind of ironic given that the Packers scored 7 points in "Vick's" playoff win. Was Vick playing special teams when they blocked a punt for a TD or when another muffed punt was recovered on the 20 yard line? Washington's D was something like 31st against the pass coming into last night's game, so while the performance was impressive, let's not act like he carved up the 85' Bears or the Steel Curtain.

I was one of Vick's biggest critics. I always thought he acted like a punk and didn't deserve any of the hype he got. He was a lazy football player and it was pretty obvious.

Since the beginning of the year I've been rooting for you cause the change is drastic. The game the other night was a blast to watch. Can't wait to watch the Eagles game today.

    • I know every jersey thread goes in this direction, but I feel the need to say it.  The Chinese knockoffs are not your friend. Not only does the money not go to the panthers, but you don't control where it does go. The athletic did an excellent podcast on the business of counterfeit shirts not too long ago. I could care less about the legality of it, but the morality of it is no bueno. Now I need to wash off the "defends billionaire class" off myself, but like don't give your money to those people. If you can't afford a jersey, just go to ebay, or a thrift store, or wear a t shirt.
    • A friend of mine, Chip, was taking an exam in a business course that he had failed twice before.  He would have to drop out of his major if he failed it for a third time--he claimed the professor, Dr. Brown, despised him, and several others who had Dr. Brown's class with Chip confirmed that Dr. Brown's hatred for Chip was obvious.  Before the exam, Chip was up all night cramming, confiding to his roommate Jeff how nervous he was.  Jeff was understanding and listened carefully.  During the exam (an evening course) Jeff was at work delivering flowers for a local florist.  As Chip describes it, a woman (another student who worked with Jeff) entered the classroom with flowers and a card with the words "Dr. Brown" written on the card.  The professor immediately sent the girl out; Jeff was watching from the hallway.  She left the flowers on his desk and scampered out.  Chip laughed because he thought the professor, a man he hated, was being pranked.  A few minutes later, the professor opened the envelope, and read the card.  Chip was still laughing.  He walked toward the students, still taking a timed test, and stopped at Chip's desk, staring at him.  Chip stopped laughing.  He dropped the card on Chip's desk while snarling at him silently.  Chip read the card, "Dr. Brown.  I can't tell you how much I have grown under the three semesters of your tutelage and guidance.  You are my role model.  I will miss you." --Chip Fxxxxx.  Chip made a C.
