As a hardcore Panthers fan, it is difficult for me to submit this idea, but the reality is we can't keep both DeAngelo and Stewart in the long run. If we try, the chances are we will lose one of them to free agency and not get anything in return for them. (Like we did with Peppers) Also, the way things are going now, their value might depreciate the longer we keep them. An average life of a good running back is around four years.

Here is my thinking, Goodson showed he can be a number one running back. So we promote Goodson to number two, and trade away one of our current number one and two backs. I believe Williams contract is up after this season, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Williams may be the more durable back, so I say we re-sign him and trade Stewart for a 1st round pick in the upcoming draft.

I'm reluctant to trade either of them. Deangelo is amazing and proved his worth to me even more this season. The thing is if you trade Stewart and the guy gets healthy he will be a dominant player. We have not seen the full potential of JStew. Not saying he necessarily will be 100% but the risk is there for him to make us look stupid. We have the best back field in the league and they aren't the reason we're losing right now.

none. no change should be made to the RB corps. there is no benefit to the team by letting any of them go. you only make the team weaker and for what? bad idea to mess with one of the few strengths of the team. leave it alone and build up the other parts.

I would like to see what these backs can do for the rest of this season. Part of the reason they are struggling now is because of the o-line, and because we got rid of Hoover. Yet with Goodson, I think we could safely trade away one of these guys.

as long as they don't pay DeAngelo a lot then keep them all. Maybe him getting hurt this year and having lousy production will benefit us in the long wrong.

This is what's going to eventually happen. If DeAngelo comes back this season and tears it up, two things will happen. One, I will be extremely happy, and two, DeAngelo will want to see some money coming his way. If J-Stew comes back and have a big season, he too will want a big contract. I see Goodson potentially being a better number two guy then J-Stew or Williams down the road. If we trade one of them now, we will get top compensation for them for less money. I think we would get a mid-to-late first rounder for Stew.

Williams + Goodson > Williams + Stewart

...potentially

nah, people are letting the first few games of this season hold too much weight.

Stewart is a beast. Mike Goodson nor DeAngleo can run over people like Stewart did against the Giants last season. He needs a hole to get the ball rolling. Once it is in motion there isn't a RB on this roster capable of that.

Stewart also has a couple seasons on his contract so he is going to be part of the group regardless the next couple seasons.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
