Andrew Luck vs. Jimmy Clausen

Many people said those QB's had the skills that would translate to the next level.

The thing is, you don't really know if the QB has skills that translate to the next level, until he actually gets to the next level.

Were these no. 1 overall picks like Sam Bradford or Luck is going to be or where they undrafted like Chris Leak and Jason White?

Your post is very incoherent.

90% of QBs show nothing...exactly, 90% of QBs get other jobs they don't get to keep playing.

Those remaining that show nothing in their second year have to go find jobs as well but now there are less of them since the 90% that didn't make it the first year took them.

Some do go to Europe.

Less than .5% come back from Europe to win SBs.

So are you saying after year two we should send Clausen to Europe then have him come back and win a SB? How long is this going to take? 15 years?

How long do we stay with Clausen after he keeps showing nothing? How many passes will he get from you? What is improvement? What is one thing that he has that Luck doesn't (besides 4 NFL losses)?

I don't care if you fire Clausen tommorow

Draft Luck next season

Fire Luck at end of Season when he did not get it done

and draft Joe Blow for QB the next season

and Billy Bob Thorton the next

As long as you believe that this will fix the Panthers problems

Heck even a blind Squirell can find a nut .

Q B is not this teams big problem .

Explain why D Williams and Stewart can.t move the ball

Yes they are injured now ,but before then.

You do realize that this team can address the offensive line issues with one of its other draft picks, free agency, and getting Jeff Otah some pain meds, right?

People act as if that first round draft pick is our only pick

How's those pain meds working this season

Agreed on the only pick !!

Again, we have more than one pick. I don't know how long you've watched football or followed a team but there are 7 round to a draft. Sometimes you get really lucky and you have more than 1 pick per round, other times you aren't so lucky and you don't even get 1 pick in a round.

For example, we could draft a QB first and a lineman second then a DT then a Corner and so on. We get about 10 choices this year. Luck only costs 1 of them (hopefully we don't have the #1 pick then trade our second to move down...yes you read that correctly).

THERE IS NO DOMINANT O LINEMAN IN THIS DRAFT! DO NOT REACH!

Would it make you happy if after drafting Luck, we signed Logan Mankins and used every other pick on offensive right guards, since they're so important and hard to find outside of the early first round where we'll be drafting?

If the question is simply, "Clausen or Luck?", then the answer is quite obviously Luck all day every day, and that'll be reflected in their respective draft positions come April, plus the generally higher regard in which Luck is held as opposed to the differing opinions on Clausen, some of which questioned whether he was even the best QB on Notre Dame's roster last year.

And you know that based on their college rankings

i believe any aversion to drafting luck in lieu of clausen illustrates the difference between playing for notre dame v. playing for stanford.

the average nfl fan watches like 3 college games a week. it's not really their fault.

    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
    • It's a decent vid with compelling reasons for his opinion. But, my thing is is that you simply can't draft McMillan thinking he is a surefire WR1. There are questions. His 40---rightly or wrongly---will play a part. I'd think that his splits (which will speak more to his game translating to the pros in my mind) are more important.  As much as you're trying to sell us that McMillan is a don't-overthink-it-type-of-player, I wouldn't say that's the case. Workouts will play a part in all of this.  At this point, I like the thought of Tetairoa. That's as much as I can give you right now.
