Fox losing grip or interest?

Regardless of Fox's current situation, regardless whether or not he cares about the season, regardless of whether or not he'll get canned tomorrow or at the end of the season, you'd think he'd at least have his players' backs.

Not so.

Receiver Steve Smith said Aqib Talib and Sean Jones "went head first into Jimmy." Replays showed Talib appeared to hit Clausen with a helmet-to-helmet hit. Smith then shoved Talib and was given a 15-yard penalty.

"Despite what people might think, actually I am a team player and I'll do it again, and I'll do it 10 out of 10 times, 100 out of 100 times," Smith said of the penalty. "Guys going in there, he goes head first in there, so I'm going to follow."

Coach John Fox declined to comment Monday for fear of being fined, but did say they would send in a tape of the play to the league office. Fox also said he wasn't certain Clausen sustained the concussion on that play, but believed that's when it happened.

So it's okay for your on-field leader to catch a 15-yarder and probably get fined, but because you're afraid of a fine you won't stand up for your players?

You, John Fox, have revealed your true, spineless, chickenshit self by not even going to bat for either your rookie QB or your veteran wide receiver. Nice going.

It's very possible JR has specifically outlined a code of conduct for the coach which precludes him from complaining about officials or other teams players... It may not be fair to place the blame on him for not speaking his mind, but yeah, it'd be nice to see him stand up for his players.

To me, it seemed pretty certain where he thought blame fell for the concussion though even though he didn't specifically say it.

I know what you're sayin' but c'mon, what's JR gonna do- fire him?

Fox this season is like you telling your boss your leaving and boss ask you to work a 2 week notice and you say O K

{But in Fox case it's 1 season}

Knowing that you are gone in 2 weeks

Are you really going to be as motivated as you have been ?

Fox knowing he is not coming back is in that same mode !

Fox is just riding the train to the station.
