I guess the officials are to blame for not whistling it sooner.

You can blame it on the officials for not blowing the whistle. Players are always taught to play til the whistle. You can't expect Talib to just sit there and watch Clausen try to get across the goal line while the play is still live.

After watching the video again, it was more. About eight.

EDIT: Doesn't change the fact that Talib hit a runner while that runner was still on his feet before the whistle blew.

You guys are seriously delusional homers or just don't understand the game....as I've heard from other NFCS fans. How was this a late hit? The wistle hadn't blown yet? Clausen and the rest of the Panthers squad was still trying to push to get him across the goal line. Is Talib just supposed to sit there and watch him try to cross the goal line until the wistle blows? And to say it was a helmet to helmet hit is a bad guess at best.

As far as what Smith did in retaliation, it was dirty, but I'd be happy he was trying to prtoect his QB if I was you.

And how could you guys seriously whine about this after that dirty hit that Clifton Smith took last year?

The play was over, forward progression had stopped... I don't know what jackass ref didn't blow the whistle, they should have. They certainly were quick to jump the gun when Charles Johnson striped Blount. They blew that play dead before Blound even hit the ground... Same goes for the penalty against Beason, the reciever had a hold of his jersey pulling Beason to him because Beason was going to pick Freeman off, Beason gets the call... Thank the refs for the win... otherwise would there would have been a better game.

after watching the video, I can't say I agree with either fan base here.

Talib was trying to stop clausen and railed him, smitty took exception to what he took to be a cheap shot on his QB and retaliated. nothing more, nothing less. I completely understand both sides of the argument here. best way i see it is that poo just happened.

That vid clip is terrible, too choppy for anyone to get the true game speed feel for the hit. Talib launched himself head first.

The worst part of that play was that the entire Bucs D was around Talib and Smitty. Almost no one on our team was backing up Smitty. This team has no heart left.
