after watching the video, I can't say I agree with either fan base here.

Talib was trying to stop clausen and railed him, smitty took exception to what he took to be a cheap shot on his QB and retaliated. nothing more, nothing less. I completely understand both sides of the argument here. best way i see it is that poo just happened.

Pretty crap for Clausen though. He hasn't had a settled run in the starting line up with all the flip flopping the coaching staff has done. The first game where he knows he can settle without fear of an itchy trigger finger from Fox, he actually played like a moderate QB, so I was interested to see him play the rest of this season.

The trenches are what win championships, we really need to address this.

I didn't see a helmet to helmet. I say Talib use that grey area of pads/helmet. Polamalu does that type stuff almost every play. Now, if you want to say he came in late I may agree to that. I love Smitty sticking up for Jimmy though.

Talib had time after clausen was stopped to run halfway across the field and spear him. It's not a defenseless receiver, it was just unnecessary roughness, AND a late hit. Either could have been called.

Yes the play was over, Clausen was stopped. In fact the game was over. Taking out the QB served no purpose for the Bucs. That made the hit even dirtier.

So let's get this straight, you decide to run TWO QB sneaks at the goal-line when:

A) Your O-line hasn't been able to do much for running backs the entire year, why the QB?

Maybe your best blocker, is out of the game hurt? (Wharton)

C) Your QB isn't very big, AND is a rookie?

D) To get a TD where you're going to lose anyway? This isn't the playoffs, or a big game, why put anyone in danger like this?

This just clearly shows how desperate Fox and them are to put ANY points on the board, at any cost, be it Clausen's development or health.

Want to progress your rookie QB??? Give him the ball at the goaline. Let him get in some goalline snaps for experience. Game is over anyway. He may just sneak one in, this could be his strong suit since the long bomb doesn't seem to be. Nope, let's just run 2 QB sneaks and look stupid.

That was the worst call possible with the 2 QB sneaks... They may as well have lined up Fiammetta or Vaughn under center and let them try it. Clausen may actually be slower than Steve Beurelein.
