Was JR looking at a possible strike next year?

Please be gentle as this is my first time starting a thread here! :)

I got started thinking about this before the season even started. I was greatly concerned that we had lost a lot of veteran players to FA or just plain retirement and we had made no significant moves (or any) to sign any FA's.

It seemed clear to me that Fox and company were lame duck coaches. I mean if you are going young in order to rebuild the team for the future then wouldn't you either want to lock in your head coach for several years or start fresh with a new program. We seemed to take the worst course. We have a young team and a lame duck coach.

I personally don't think JR is cheap and uninterested in winning. So why do so little to put the team in any position to do well at all?

Could it be that JR has accepted that there will be a significant player strike next season? Maybe he saw no reason to lock in a lot of money and contracts when there very well could be a very redacted season next year.

I don't know. What do you guys think?

The threat next year is an OWNERS lockout, not a player strike/lockout. That being said, I highly doubt that it will happen, but just wanted to clarify.

The problem wasnt the cuts, it was not signing any FA that might have helped the team. Some sort of veteran leadership.

And before you name a list of FA WR's, please remember that a Fox led team WILL NOT spend mega bucks on the passing game. It is an afterthought to them. The money is spent on the RB, OL, and Defense.

only thing is, those vets would have to be signed to 1 year deals....not jsut because of the potential lockout in '11, but because of the new coach coming to town who might not want those vets.
