Wonder how he's going to have patience with a young coordinator?? cowher gives him the best chance to win the super bowl faster than some young unproven coord.

Patience???? If he did not have patience Fox would have been gone this past offseason.

I think 3-4 could actually fit us well .. i mean we have beason, davis, connor, anderson, brown, hardy, norwood ..they seem like they could pull it off
Well if Bill Cowher does become HC. I sure JR will give him complete control of the GM postion aswell. Because when and if Bill does become the GM/HC of this team. Then expect him to start firing the whole coaching staff aside from the STs coach. Jeff Davidson and Ron Meeks will be gone after this season. Then Bill will go and get his old friend and current DC of the steelers Dick to be our DC and I'm sure Bill will go for a top notch OC in the league and other coaching staff aswell to form a good team. Then his next stop is the Defense first thing. I sure first postion that will be striped down will be the DT postion. No one at the DT will make next year in Bill system at 3-4. Bill is going be looking a DT or DTs that has has weight on them and can stuff the run and get through the oline to get to the QB often and not just once in a while neither. DE postion will also be striped aswell. Charles Johnson will most likly make it as a backup. Tyler is old and gone and E. Brown to small and gets pushed around to much. If Brown stays he will mainly be used as a 3rd down only. Bill will go for guys who are much quickly bigger and can get pressure often. Linebacker core will be striped aswell and looked at. Beason will make it as a starter because he has stayed healthy and he is fast and is a beast plain and simple. TD with 2 knee blowouts within 8 months and expiring contract will most likly be gone. This is just a example of what Bill Cowher will do in the offseason if he is made GM/HC of this team in the offseason. Bill will address alot of these problems with both sides of the ball and the coaching staff. Pretty much you will see a totally different team next year if Bill becomes HC.

He's also hasn't coached since 2006... he hasn't proven he can still coach at his previous level yet.. so 5-6m is more than fair.

Also Shanahan couldn't hold Cowher's jock. So comparing them does no good.

I wasn't comparing the two, was just pointing out that Shanahan had been out of coaching and came back and got paid. And I do agree that if JR wants Cowher he will pay to get him. It just depends on what kind of team he wants. Does he want the same'ol'same'ol' or does he want a contender?

Cowher was a winner with multiple teams, Shanahan was a winner with one, in about the same time span....just sayin'

Yea thats what I wa getting at too. I was mostly directing my post towards the "JR isn't as stupid as Snyder" comment. Cowher is better due to the points you made so how would JR be seen as stupid if he hires him?

One thing that bothers me is that Cowher never really had a great QB, I question how well Clausen can develop under him.

I also wonder how much of that Pittsburgh D was Cowher and not Lebeau, as it hasn't skipped a beat after he left. if Cowher brings Lebeau here though, we will be an amazing team.
