Please Panthers LOOOOSe tommorow - I want that 1st Pick 2011

I would be very surprised if we don't get a top 3 pick. We are not going to win very many games this season. The house of cards has collapsed. I have some faith in Hurney to make a brilliant move with a high draft pick. I would imagine they would want to trade down a bit and get an extra pick (maybe a 2nd or a late first)...

A lot will depend on who the new head coach is.

It would be a huge disappointment if they felt they needed to draft a QB in the top 3, after drafting Clausen...even though he clearly sucks. We could sign a vet at QB...

I don't know...if JR and Co. are scrapping the whole thing and starting over, then you'd expect them to start with the OL and DL. Hopefully we will get the best DL in the next draft, a talented WR, several OL, and lots of DBs...but we will need to be active in the FA market as well.

This season is actually FAR worse than 2001...mostly because I always thought Seifert was an idiot, but Fox and Hurney and JR I had faith in and they truly let all of the fans down...

every time the QB drops back the whole damn thing just falls apart...what an utter failure!

Clausen is far from his full potential:

Former Panthers quarterback Steve Beuerlein, who spent 14 years in the NFL, was the backup in Dallas when Troy Aikman was emerging as a star. Beuerlein said that even as talented as Aikman was, development was a process. He said the Panthers can't rush to a decision on either of the rookies, because they're far from finished products.

"When I got to Dallas, Troy was in his third year, and he was still trying to figure it out," Beuerlein said. "He was still learning the position when we won a Super Bowl his fourth year, and he had a lot of getting better to do.

"It really does take about three years to feel like you know what's going on, and you hit your peak when you're in years six through eight. But that's if you have a stable environment.

Clausen's injury has hindered his throws:

For starter Jimmy Clausen, his hope is that some time off to recover from toe surgery will allow his arm to look better.

Clausen's still bothered by pain in his right big toe, related to surgery he had last January to repair two torn ligaments. He barely practiced his final year at Notre Dame, but played through the pain before getting it fixed before the pre-draft process began. Not being able to fully plant and push off his right foot has affected some throws this year, and Clausen said he's concerned people will get the wrong idea about his arm strength because of the toe injury.

"It does affect me, to be honest," Clausen said. "It's your back foot, you've got to push off to get anything on the ball, get everything on your throw. Every quarterback would tell you they use their legs and core a lot to get a lot on the ball. It hinders me a little bit, but I just try to do what I can do."
