Ok ,seroius time. what version of Office? I happen to work with some of the bestest minds when it comes to SS and databases,

Give me an idea of what exactly you need to do and I will pass it on to them..

My formula currently looks like this:

=VLOOKUP($G$4,[Oct.xls]ITD!$AS:$BD,MATCH($A16,[Oct.xls]ITD!$AS$1:$BD$1,0),0)

I need to replace the [Oct.xls]ITD!$AS:$BD with a cell reference.

So if I put the path, filename, and sheets in Cell A1 it should read:

=Vlookup($G$4,Indirect(A1),.....

but it's giving me a reference error and I'm not sure why
