I want Donavon Ez and/or Derrick Harmon - one is the best finesse edge rusher in the draft with one of the most nuanced games I’ve seen from an OLB, and the other is the most balanced disruptor in the vein of H Ngata - most pressures, 2nd highest DL in pressure rate last year. An absolute force, with the production to backup.

We’re chasing and chatting these spotty upside guys, TEs, or skill positions guys with legit holes in their game. I feel like these two (and maybe even Kenneth Grant) are ripe for the picking and will not disappoint.

Pounding the table for all three, but I don’t expect to get any of them.

I love those guys and Grant I think is a far safer pick than Graham. But, all that being said, those should be trade down targets. Which, as I have said many times, I am hugely in favor of. This draft is so loaded with two deep/rotational contributors that we should be maximizing the top 90 picks we can get.

If we could get, without trading substantial future draft capital, 5 picks in the top 90 I think we could position ourselves for a HELL of a draft.

Yeah if I’m not being predictive and just throwing out what I want, I’m taking calls from Indy, Seattle, Denver, etc. if they come in.

Ezeiruaku would be my top target, then you have more resources via trade to land favorite targets in that R2-3 range

Try to trade back, but in order of preference...

  • Mason Graham, DL, Michigan - Possibly the top DT in the draft
  • Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State - TE1 plus clear top 10 talent in this draft class that fills a need. Can block, open up things underneath, run after the catch, and run the seam.
  • Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College - My favourite EDGE prospect to have scouted this offseason outside of 2023 JT Tuimoloau and 2024 Abdul Carter. Let him rotate behind Clowney/Wonnum and then potentially start on the weakside.
  • Jalon Walker, LB/EDGE, Georgia - Would fit Evero's scheme insanely well and pair well with Wallace who could be the coverage LB while Walker is the guy that the QB has to guess if he's coming or not.
  • Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State - Will immediately fill in for AT once he's gone (or if he goes down) and is able to run a large portion of the route tree.
  • Malaki Starks, S, Georgia - His freshman + sophomore tape is elite and he'd immediately start as FS1.
  • Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia - Loooooooong arms and other traits that gives him the prototypical build that scouts loves. Also showed elite tape as a freshman as a 3-4 OLB, showed out well as a sophomore, but his recent season he played with an injured ankle all season long.
  • Shemar Stewart, EDGE, Texas A&M - Insane measurables, solid pressure rate, good run stopper, but there's questions galore about that pressure to 4.5 sacks rate.
  • Will Johnson, CB, Michigan - Mike Jackson's deal allows him to be cut after just one season if the Panthers find a partner to put across from Jaycee Horn.
  • James Pearce Jr, EDGE, Tennessee - Lots of questions due to recent reports regarding character and coachability, but performed against top SEC talent at a position of need for the Panthers.
  • Armand Membou, OT, Missouri - Word is that Moton's knee is done and the Panthers need to find an RT for life afterwards. The preferred method would be to bring in a guy to develop behind Moton for a season, but having Membou means having a big body that can plug in right away should Moton go down. This would leave Christensen to take over at any other spot on the line should there be another injury.

I want Jalon Walker because he is good at football.

As of now I think he is gonna be available at 8 and the best guy for us. The other defensive guys that I think will be available are not as “good at football” IMO.  I don’t think this team should draft a TE as high as 8 and TMac might be good but I can’t get excited for him.

so my reasons for not liking anyone else probably aren’t all good reasons but that’s where im at

1. I think we need a dynamic LB.  If Walker is Texas game good, he's my guy.  BUT.... I am also on team trade back.

2. Graham would be worth it.  We could make that work.  You need a 4 man rotation on your DL.  By the time his 2nd contract comes DB would be on the way out.

3. I would drop everything to draft Travis Hunter if he fell.  That's three picks in one.  NB/WR/Returner.  You can rotate him with CSW at nickel and get solid run with him at WR.  The more I watched him the more I wish we could grab him

    • This is my point, especially at #8--Wlaker versus Beason and Keuchley (tackles not recorded for Morgan):
    • The problem with your specific scenario is that if Sanders is still available and the Giants are really putting the pick up for trade, you're going to open up a bidding war for Sanders and that's going to raise the price way too much.  A much better question is if the same scenario unfolds but the Giants take Sanders, do you try to trade up with the Patriots at 4? The Patriots biggest need is offensive line and 4 is a bit rich for this OL class, while 8 would be the sweet spot and would still put them in front of most all OL needy teams. What would it cost to move from 8 to 4? If the price is right, then I think you consider it then. But probably not for anything more than 8, 57 and maybe a day 3 pick.

And now I’m starting to hear more and more about Hunter to Cleveland at No. 2. That would mean Abdul Carter vs. Shedeur Show more 2:19 PM · Apr 5, 2025
