Peppers is ranked as the 2nd best DE available in FA?

Not quoting combine numbers. If that is how you look at it. so be it. I am stating a fact that he is a freak of nature and is just as good as anyone out there. Now, do I want a guy on the team that doesn't want to be here? No. Suggs is great too. I was just folllowing up that comment about him not being that great.

I hope we tag him and trade him for something new

We'll just to state how much of a freak of nature peppers is, at unc he did his team workouts with the db's and wr's doing their drills. Completed everyone one of them like running 8 300 yard sprints in under 55 seconds with 30 second breaks. Even won some of the sprints. ran a 4.55 on turf and a 4.68 at his pro day with a 38 inch vert. This at 6-7 283-290 before he was drafted. That's pretty freaky athletics, if only he had the mindset to be great......

What you quoted were the same as combine numbers and just because he's a freak of nature doesn't make him a great football player. Don't get me wrong I do think he is a great football player but not everyone thinks he is as great as many on here think he is or at least used to think he is.

You can tell me all the numbers you want but that won't change the fact that someone at scouts.com thinks Suggs is a better DE and not the best DE in the NFL as some have said. So using numbers won't prove a thing.

I never said anywhere that Peppers was better than Suggs. I was being a sarcastic ass in my previous post. Peppers is a top 3 DE. Suggs plays more of a hybrid position, OLB/DE. So comparing the two isn't fair to either player. Would I take suggs over Peppers yes if we ran a 3-4 D, but we don't so I'll take peppers. But I do think we need to trade Peppers if he doesn't want to be here. I think Peppers is a great guy but change of scenary for both would be nice

I reread our posts and realized that both of us misunderstood each other. I think you thought I was saying Peppers wasn't a great player and I thought you were trying to say he is the best.

The main point of my post was to just point out that Pep isn't as coveted as some around has him being. I was also trying to make the point that Pep might not see the same offers in FA that he got from Carolina.

So if that happens do we/the team welcome him back with open arms if comes back wanting to sign with the Panthers? I have a feeling this could be a real possibility.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
