McNabb

Well, with whats going on right now, I do not really think it matters what kind of offense you guys are currently running. I think if you guys got someone in here like McNabb he can use his experience and guide some of the younger QBs under him. Although, people say McNabb is done, I doubt it. McNabb is one of the most disrespected QBs of all time. But, you cannot deny his consistency over the last decade and his drive. Hire Wade as Defensive Coordinator!

McNabb is the best way to put this team in contention and mentor our QBs also. Another interesting option to take a look at is Shaun Hill. He's starting the rest of the season with Stafford out. Let's see how he performs.

Halfway through his first year outside the Eagles West Coast Offense, McNabb is the 25th rated QB in the league and has more picks than TDs (8 to 7). The Redskins are third in their division with a 4-4 record and Shanahan recently benched McNabb at the end of a game for Rex Grossman (supposedly because Rex knew the Two Minute Offense better).

As far as the mentor thing, Mcnabb's not really known to have the greatest relationships with the guys behind him on the depth chart. If you want him as a transutional guy, cool, but he's not really the mentor type.

If we go West Coast, he's a good option. Otherwise, not the best idea.

I brought him up since Clausen is better suited in a WCO. That is, if the next HC brings that type of offense with him. And I know McNabb isn't known for being a mentor but Clausen sitting on the bench learning and watching McNabb live could help him. But no one knows who the next coach is, what offense he is going to run, if Clausen is his guy and so on. So it's all a moot point now.

Clausen is definitely better suited to WCO.

If we don't run that next season, I have to wonder if the head coach might not look to move him to someone that does.

(unlikely, but possible)

he doesn't really fit our offense this year, with a coaching change maybe... but he isn't a long term answer, though maybe as a kind of veteran backup/mentor? I would like it.

I just don't think he'd take that role.

No way he takes a backup role, not this early in his career. McNabb is in my top 5 Qbs and I don't know why. I really like watching him play and think he always gets an unfair shake. Hopefully he gets to play somewhere he he has some help and a chance to win, I'd love it if it was here for 2 years.

I agree the McNabb is best suited for a WCO, so is Clausen, so I'm hoping our next coach is a WCO guy - or hires a WCO guy.

As far as McNabb being a mentor, I don't know if he would work directly with a backup but for a young guy like Clausen I think there would be allot of value in just watching how McNabb works. As an older player getting towards the end of his career, perhaps McNabb would take more of a mentoring attitude - give back to the game, etc?
