Hurney shouldn't be fired for two main reasons

Hahaha I can't believe you morons are poo talking Hurney's drafting. The man is a pro in the first round and steals in the later rounds like a kleptomaniac in a candy store.

Saying "Dwayne Jarrett lol" does not mean that Hurney is bad in the draft. Yes he's made a couple bad picks and bad trades, but the good overwhelmingly outweighs the bad.

As GMs go Hurney isn't the worst. He's done exactly what his owner told him to do and taken the public lashing he's been given since he been trotted out as "the guy who did it" every week with a smile.

His drafts are not nearly as bad as people claim (no they're not superstar brilliant every time and he does some bonehead poo but every NFL gm makes mistakes) and he's a certified genius when it comes to manipulating the cap and contracts.

If you add a coach who is a good evaluator of talent and let Hurney be a GM he's perfectly fine. I would hate to see him go in the clearning house, he at least deserves the chance to excel with another regime in place.

I don't think Hurney is a horrible GM but if we have a chance to get a better GM then we should get him. He has been a great GM until the last few years.

He has made some horrible draft decisions and I can't forgive him especially for the Armanti Edwards trade. He has made some horrible trades in the draft and that is the only reason why I would want him gone. Unless we can find a better GM then I don't think we should let him go because he is an above average GM.

And for those haters who say he cannot draft, he has yet to screw up a 1st round pick, always has drafted talents offensive linemen and linebackers in later rounds and has found some good talent in the later rounds such as Rosario, Munnerlyn, Schwartz and Bernadeau and many other players like Jovan Haye, Joe Berger, and Will Montgomery who has played well for other teams.

This year we got Greg Hardy and David Gettis who have had a great rookie season and we have 3 players in the secondary who might make noise in the future. Besides the bad trades we have done well in the draft.

Dwayne Jarrett never got playing time and the coaching staff hated him. He was consistent at catching balls I never remember him dropping many catches that we throw to him. He is still young and I could see him making another team and be successful. Look at Brandon Loyd, he always made great catches but he went through 3 teams before he became the dominate player he is today.

My dream is to find a GM that can rebuild in the draft and get cheap free agents that can produce on the field.

Building a culture of winning would help our current GM do this also.

Do you think FAs go to New England (and sometimes stay there for less than they're worth on the open market) because of Bill Belichick's fantastic personality or the weather?

If we win we will be attractive to FAs for more than money and part of your dream comes true.

Above average GMs don't have 2-14 seasons.

They do if they're following instructions from an owner who followed a strategy for the year who, they have admitted, was a miscalculation.

If I were told to go out and change my tire with only a pair of scissors I wouldn't be too successful - it wouldn't mean I couldn't change a tire given the proper tools to do so.

If the "go cheap go young and f*ck the world approach" is lifted and the Panthers produce another extremely poorly managed team after NEXT year then I say off with his head. But I think he deserves that chance considering that I believe the sum of his good moves outweighs the sum of his bad ones.

So the Owner is the GM? I'm confused.

You can only name 2 things that Hurney has done wrong? How about getting a GM that has some balls and whose not a yes man.

1. Bringing in Keyshawn Johnson- MISTAKE

2. David Carr-MISTAKE

3. Dwayne Jarrett- MISTAKE

4. Jimmy Clausen/ Trade- MISTAKE

5. Armanti Edwards/ Trade- MISTAKE

6. Peppers gone- Best Player in FRANCHISE History- Mistake

7. Letting Muhsin Muhammad go- MISTAKE

I could go on if you'd like. To not put any of the blame except for the Delhomme and Brown debacle is ludacris. The guy has not had a good track record.

We needed a good vet Wide receiver and Hurney made the right decision by getting a vet with a good history and with a good price, don't forget we didn't have a lot of cap space to waste and our team was a run first team so why waste a lot of money on a #2 receiver. Keyshawn was decent for us as a #2 receiver I mean 70 receptions,800 yards and 4 tds isn't bad for a #2 receiver on a run first team and it wasn't like we were paying him a lot of money. Who else would you recommend us signing that was better?

2. David Carr wasn't signed to be a starter he was our back up and Carr was a former #1 pick that had a horrible offensive line and he wasn't a horrible qb for the Texans. He was no all star but he was coming off a year where he had completed 68% of his passes. Hurney was hoping that he could be another Delhomme. It didnt work out but we didn't loose anything by signing him as a BACK UP.

3. Jarrett was never liked by John Fox and was never given much playing time. When he was given playing time he actually didn't play bad. I think he could be successful on another team that gives him a chance.

4. Jimmy Clausen had a lot of hype and we needed a future Qb. Sure he has had a bad rookie season but QBs take years to develop so wait a few years before saying he is a bust. Look at Eli Manning, he had a horrible first few years but when he finally put everything together he won a Superbowl and has played well since.

5. Once again you are judging a player who is still young and has only played two games. Don't forget he was a QB and is learning to play a position he has never played before. Give the kid a few years and lets see how he plays on the field before judging him. I agree the trade was bad, AE was projected to be 7th round pick but Hurney sees something in the kid and I would like to see him develop his body and get some playing time before judging him. If he turns out to be a good WR in two years from now you will be eating those words and Hurney will look like a genius.

6. Peppers gone isn't a bad thing. He wanted a lot of money and a long contract and he is almost out of his prime. I think we have found a great replacement for him and for a lot less. Loosing Peppers gives us cap space and we could sign 2 or 3 good players for the price of one aging overrated DE. Sure Peppers was our best defensive player we ever had but we are rebuilding and I would rather spend the money elsewhere. Don't forget Charles Johnson is only 24 and is already putting up better numbers than peppers and has more years left than him.

7. Mushin Muhhamed is old and we should of let him go. He isn't the dominate player that he once was. I love Moose but we drafted 3 WRs to replace him and two of them have already showed potential to be good WRs.

If your talking about letting go of Moose after 2005 then you must realize that he was wanting to get paid and we didn't have a lot of cap room to resign him. We also was thinking that Keary Colbert was going to be his replacement, 2 years before he had a great rookie season and how was he supposed to know he was going to drop off the earth and be as bad as he was. Not to mention Drew Carter seemed like he was coming into his prime and showed some flashes of being a good #3 receiver, too bad he never learned how to catch a ball. We also signed Rod Gardner for a cheap price who had some pretty decent years before coming here. Hurney has to be able to sign players and be under the cap. If we would have signed Moose then we would been able to keep other players or sign any free agents to fix other holes our team had. Hurney was trying to fix the problem with cheaper talent and using younger players we drafted that had potential to be a #2 receiver.

If you don't think the moves Hurney made this year were heavily (I can't stress enough heavily) influenced by the desires of the team's owner (read: his boss) then there's no point in continuing this.

What proof do you have that Jerry is selecting the players?
