I think Hurney should go with Fox

I don't agree about Stewart and Otah being gold. One is not proven and the other can't stay healthy. Far from golden.

I think the cant stay healthy thing now applies to both players. I think Otah has proven when healthy he can be a beast. As far as stewart goee, his downfall this year is something that mystifies me as much as the poo o-line play this year.

We need somebody that won't trade next year's first rounder to move up in this year's second(E. Brown) or next year's second to move up in this year's third(A.Edwards). I just don't like giving up higher pick to move up in a lower round. It really hurts for next year because the 2nd he gave away next year is going to be #33 or 34 overall.

Yea they just keep on digging the hole deeper, both of those bafoons need to head out to pasture. Its like every year they're just trying to salvage there jobs and trade our picks away to maybe get lucky. I dont know what kind of pressure they have on them to make these stupid picks from the front office and ownership but come on. Everette doesnt even play except for 3rd downs, what a waste.

i'm also of the opinion that it's a foregone conclusion hurney will be back.

if that is the case...what should he do?

of course he and JR should go all out and open up the purse strings to get the best coach possible and spend money on players. with the players, what would be the best strategy? spend tons of money on a few key acquisitions? trade draft picks away to get key players? spend a lot of money getting as many mid level talent players in?

say you have $50mil to spend. do you spread it around and try to strengthen as many areas as you can or do you focus it on a few key players?

do you build through the draft or do you use draft picks to trade away for more proven players? do you concentrate on FA more?

i think with the way we are now, very young defense, young at QB and WR, we might as well go young all the way, including head coach. give a hot OC his first shot.

i also think we draft heavy on the OL and DL this year, develop clausen next year, if he bombs, we'll still be in top 10 in draft in 2012 and go QB then.

then, with the right coach, a young talented team will devlop together and we'll be strong for the next decade but it will take 2-4 years to get there so be prepared for losing seasons for the next several years.

we need a new GM. the patriots next year have 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks and 2 third round picks. i hate belichick with a passion but he is the undisputed king of draft strategy. i wish we had someone half as good as him.

lastly, davidson MUST GO!!!!!

I think it's funny when people who can't manage to use a simple spell-checker criticize someone who effectively manages an NFL salary cap and keeps the roster stocked with talent.

Everyone likes to point to a decision with which they disagree as some sort of evidence that Hurney isn't good at his job. Well, that's just stupid. You don't judge a man on single decisions, you look at the sum of what he's done. What you people are doing is taking a few questions off a single test and basing an entire grade on that (forgive the analogy, I'm trying to put it in relevant terms to most of the Hurney haters here).

Look at the balance of the team since he's been here. Until this year's fire sale, he managed to build a complete roster through the draft, despite never picking high enough to get a true franchise quarterback.

He's done a great job working the cap--outside of Peppers when was the last time we lost a FA? You have to go back to Will Witherspoon, and in hindsight Hurney made the right call there.

He's made a lot of trades, and most people don't credit him for the good ones. Go research how we got Beason and Kalil sometime. Not every one is good, but none of them have been completely horrendous--not even the Brown one. We got a guy who contributes, even if he isn't a star.

And in the draft, the picks that really count have been gold. We have yet to take someone in the first round who hasn't become a solid player. Atlanta, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans can't say that, even just when judged by their selections during Hurney's tenure.

He's a very, very good GM, and we're lucky to have him. Spoiled even, which is how you act when you call for his head.
