Here's hoping Edwards gets a start at QB this year

This isn't a race thing' date=' this is a height, offensive system and the fact that the kid wouldn't make it through the season at his size thing. I have no problem with the kid taking 5-10 wildcat snaps in any given game with some of them passing plays, but he's not the long term solution at QB....[/quote']

You mean, if he was about Jimmy Claussen's height and weight, and had gone to some illustrious place like Notre Dame, he'd be lighting up the league right now?

I mean, a guy about exactly the same size as Drew Brees couldn't make a decent quarterback. And no self-respecting BCS team would be caught dead running a spread option offense, surely no one like West Virginia, Utah, Michigan, Florida or Oregon would ever run such an abomination. (Or the New England Patriots for that matter...)

Little guys scoring touchdowns. We really, really don't want to see that, right? Sorry, Mr. Smith, your services are no longer needed around here.

this thread is getting worse by the page. a college conference, no matter how good, is still a college conference.

I've only ever seen SEC fans claim their team could beat up on NFL squads... now someone from the FCS is? ugggh.

Shows how BAD out offense was Sunday.

Remember for years NFL teams played college teams and lost many times.

Not saying any college team should beat an NFL team, ever, but if they had been playing the Panthers Sunday I would have given a lot of college teams even money.

First of all where did I ever say Clausen is the answer. Personally I think come April fans will be going ape poo if we dont draft Luck. Secondly Notre Dame hasn't been "illustrious" for 10 years. Third the spread works if you have a GREAT QB, sorry all the homers in the world can't convince me Armanti is a GREAT NFL QB. Finally where did I say I didn't want Armanti scoring TD's, as a matter of fact at the beginning of this thread I said I hope he's Steve Smith or Desean Jackson reincarnated....

Damn you App fans are like a bunch of women on PMS when one negative thing is said about your Messiah....

Appalachian's spread offense must have worked pretty well, three national championships and all. And that quarterback of theirs was a two-time Walter Payton award winner as the best player at the FCS level. At the collegiate level, Edwards was one of the greatest ever.

He deserves a shot in the NFL. He's waited pretty patiently so far and the bigger college names ahead of him have been, well, uninspiring at best.

Sensitive about negativity towards Edwards? Probably. Just fed up with douchebags saying the guy sucks before he even gets a fair shot at quarterbacking. We've had to hear what a waste of a draft pick he was, how App State is a joke and other crap all year long. So yeah, I might be a bit defensive.

If he gets a shot and doesn't look better than the putrid duo we've been forced to watch so far this season at QB, I'll admit I was wrong about him.

Unless he's black and plays QB. Then its OK to write him off without even giving him a chance. Our fanbase does it all the time.

Damn straight.

Guess Armanti should have also had a rich daddy to throw some money around at some sports writers like the press said Clausen's dad did.

I agree.

You would think these fans were wanting Armanti to perform heart replacement on Jerry Richardson with a cork screw and a rusty nail.

Maybe some are going for that top draft pick.

Lets go Armanti!!!!!

Anything is better then what we have now

I agree, lets do it because it obviously works in Madden....
