Now I am more depressed...thanks.

It's what I do :sosp:

one question i have, though. would losing this year with a young coach in the process of rebuilding the team have been easier to take than a team sucking with a lame duck coach?

Can't speak for everyone, but I think most fans would say yes to that.

although i can't really think of a new coach hired this year that i'd want the panthers to have.

I mean I don't want Pete Carroll at all and Chan Gailey can go to hell.

If it means we get Luck and Harbaugh, then I'll say the end justified the means.

Remember when I started the original "Next Head Coach" thread?

Wasn't convinced for certain then that it would happen, but I believed it should.

I've said more than once, including this past offseason, that I believed the combo of Fox and the Panthers had gone as far as it could and a fresh start was the best thing for both.

Yes I remember that, harsh condemnation for sure. Made me shiver.

This is an ongoing discussion, in several threads, so I thought I'd make a bit of an effort to consolidate it here.

Here's a look at the possible options for next year, if John Fox is fired.

(and keep in mind that even with the 0-3 start, this is not a given)

Sort of like you leaving a job an working a 2 week notice .

Are you really going to give your all ?

Your mind is on your future, not the future of your soon to be former boss.

Fox knows he's out ,his coaches are not sure where they stand either

the last "job" i had, when i knew my contract was running out and it was time to decide if i wanted to continue or not, i decided to leave. even though i still had a few months left on my contract and promised to stay on until someone else could be found to take my place, in my head i had already checked out. it was hard not to. i was counting the days until i could taste freedom once again. every day that some tough situation came up, my mind went immediately to "6 more weeks" or whatever.

it didn't have anything to do with being professional, it had everything to do with being human. when you face struggles in a situation that you know is temporary, it's easy to quit trying to make the best of the situation you are in and just ride it out.

Was he fired?

Big difference between what I believed could (or would) happen and what I think should have.

If you want something a little more personal though, on page 4 of that thread, I was asked this:

Gun to your head..you can keep fox or fire him in favor of cowher...no other options what do you do?

My answer...

I get shot.

I would still prefer a little know coordinator with a big upside that can use Carolina to make a name for himself over the next several seasons. I just wish I had a clue as to who that may be. Someone new to head coaching would instantly bring a tremendous amount of energy to this young team.
