WindDancers Lodging and Llama Treks

Clyde, North Carolina, USA

Each room has a theme to it, we stayed in the Safari Room! Just west of Ashville in the foothills of The Great Smokey Moutains! It's a bed & breakfast, and I recommend the Llama Trek! You might even get some snow! You get breakfast, but there are great places to eat in Ashville & even Waynesville!

OR

If you feel like a more old town setting, there always Little Switzerland, NC.

Lots of little shops to walk through, a really great place to eat. (Try their Brunch on Sunday before you leave. Reservations a MUST!)

Well I decided on something similar

http://www.blueridgerentals.com/result_2.asp?table=Rental&id=395

We did something like this a couple of years ago but it was on a river. This is up on a hill or mountain or something.

Grove Park has some deal for 600 bucks for 2 nights which would have been great as well but this is 1/2 the price and I get to cook for her.

The casino was sold out....someday I may make it there. That Switzerland Inn looked great but the web site says its closed for the season. Thanks for all the suggestions!

So last minute..We leave Friday, come back Sunday afternoon. I was thinking NYC but she does not want to spend the cash, so its driving distance. It's an odd time of the year for a getaway for me. What I am looking for:

Within 3 hours drive of CLT

Romantic

perhaps a self contained resort, or a cabin

Some good places to eat

We've been to Charleston and there are no good hotels available downtown for anything like a reasonable price. Asheville, Boone, Myrtle, anywhere else - not Atlanta though.

We just want a weekend away from everything. Any recommendations from personal experience?

Myrtle Beach is awesome I've been there alot they have everything plus hotels with a beachview

next time just priceline Asheville, Biltmore area til you get a room. You won't be in it too much anyways. Tour the biltmore, winery, hit Asheville downtown at night and it'll be a good weekend. You need to do the Grove Park Inn during an off weekend to get a cheaper rate.
