Terrible QB play: Personel or Coaching?

Coaching and game planning is most of the problem right now. I dont think Moore nor Clausen are Payton manning but put in the right situation and given time I think they can manage a game. Lets face it were are getting out coached in every game. Teams are shutting our Offense down and getting to our QB. I dont care if you had Marino type quick release back there this offense is not going to move the ball.

I agree with this. In terms of coaching there are things you can do to deal with poor protection if have good playing calling and QB development.

Do you know why Moore and Delhomme look alike in the QB position? It's the ****ing coaching and it's painfully obvious.

If you have an elite QB you can always win a game regardless. If you don't have that you do need a running game and good defense. Basically pick one. It's a lot easier to go with Run/Defense.

i think that even then it wouldn't be true unless the departure occurs at the same time as the switch to WCO.

u can't cry after clausen if the switch is accomplished 10 years later.

The Panther way: get a bunch of guys together who played college football and try to shove an NFL system down their throats, regardless of the players' level of experience, skill level, etc.

The Panther way is not to develop an offense to best fit the skill set of the team, but to demand players adapt to a scheme that does nothing to take advantage of their skills- because the coaching staff cannot adapt itself, let alone 53 guys and a practice squad.

I like the part where we're down by three scores late in the second half and we're running play action like they're gonna bite.

Or where we put the rookie in when we have to pass and we send all our pass catchers on long developing routes.

This is the beginning, the middle, and the end of this particular conversation.

Clausen would probably be doing well in St. Louis or Cleveland, where they're not asking their QBs to do too much outside of short dump-offs. And Bradford and McCoy would both look like total busts if they were asked to run our current offense. We should be getting the ball to Smitty at the line and seeing what he can make of it. We should be throwing quick slants, a LOT of three-step drops, and bubble screens to our backs. What we should not be doing is what Delhommey describes in his post.

Above all, we should be trying something new instead of blaming execution. At this point, it's clear that the players we have are either incapable of executing properly, or not talented enough. Either way, it's past time for the coaches to claim that the plays would work if only the players all got on the same page.

It's startling our staff can't understand this.

Mark Sanchez the last year and a half in New York. That's what we need. Run the ball and ask your QB to do what he's capable of.

Anyone who thinks the bad play of the Panthers is due to the players does not fully understand the role of the coach. A coach does not just show up on Sunday, call plays, chew gum and yell at refs. The majority of the coaches' job is to prepare the team to play. They develop players' skills, create a strategy to (hopefully) win and teach this strategy to the players. Then, on game day, they implement their strategy and (in most cases) adjust their plans when everything goes all SNAFU after the first :30.

This is one of the hardest things that I ran into as a coach. Trying to teach my players that they need to take practice just as seriously as a game. Players always think that they can 'turn it on' on game day, and become a champion. It doesn't work that way. Everyone gets up for a game. The team that gets up for practice and prepares themselves for the game gives themselves to best chance to win. That is the difference between a good team, and a champion. You often hear about an older player talk about how they can still have the drive to play on game day, but they no longer have what it takes to prepare to play on game day. The day to day discipline that it takes to rise above.

Our coaches have not properly prepared this team to play on Sunday. They are not organized, the players do not improve from week to week or year to year, they do not have a winning game plan and they cannot make adjustments when the poo hits the fan. This is the fault of the coaches, starting with Fox. This is why I've been calling for Fox's head for the last few years. He is just not a good HC.

If I see Clausen run another seven second passing route (with three seconds before the rush hits him) I'm going to puke.

No other rookie quarterback is getting these calls.

He should be throwing 40-50 short passes a game. Three step drops.

He should be hitting the running backs in space most of the time a la WCO since they can't run into the 9 man box.

It's so simple its scary... St. Louis and Cleveland do it all day... but Davidson refuses.

moore in my opinion fit perfectly for what our 08/09 offense was like but then we completely switch which i'm still wondering why????

in what was our system we need a qb who would not turn the ball over and make plays down field with via playaction. d will and stewart would run all day on opposing defense while Moore hit them with intermediate to deep throws occasionally. this year it's completely different neither rb has yet to reach 100 yard game and this can be due largely to our pathetic oline play this can also be the reason both qb's have less then .5 seconds to make throws.

Resulting in clausen being the check down king and moore getting molloy whooped because he actually tries to stick with the retarded gameplan.

we had a perfect set up where all we need was to improve on a couple area's and boom playoffs but we chose the cheap way(i hope pays off) and now two qb's and others might have to pay for it.
