Fiz's 7 point plan

Fiz

Recommended Posts

Yep, the two QB's with the least NFL experience. Fiz should be a Pro scout, he can spot how good a player is going to be in 3 years in only 3 games :dupe:

When John Fox doesn't want to draft a QB coached for years by his close friend and noted offensive guru Charlie Weiss, alarm bells should ring for a front office. The Clausen pick was one of arrogance and it's costing the team now.

I think maybe he can be fixed, but he's a couple of years as a project, he needs to completely be reworked mechanically the same way Aaron Rogers was in Greenbay. From taking snaps from centre properly to his wind up and release, sure he's inexperienced but he's far from promising.

you trade clausen away. you let pike sit on the sidelines or let him go...doesn't really matter either way. with clausen you should get something for him, esp. with a few starts under his belt (of course he'd have to not suck so bad the rest of the season).

there would be no QB controversy. you draft luck @ #1 (or #2) and you do it with the anticipation of him being the franchise QB. you might get chad pennington to come in here to help out on the sidelines and play if needed, but the goal is to have luck be your man going into the future.

Well, if you do draft Luck, then what? QB controversy? Luck/Clausen/Pike. Does Clausen get the boot? i.e trade him for a draft pick? or are you keeping him on the team incase something happens to Luck? What if by some random act Clausen blossoms in camp and beats out Luck for the starting position for the season, then what?

All these scenario's need to be accounted for.

And just for kicks, would JR allow the Panthers to draft another QB, only to promise Luck he's the future just like they did Clausen? Knowing JR, he will want to trade down. So many scenario's that have to be looked at on both sides of the argument.

Fug everyone saying Clausen "is a rookie, he just needs..."

Being a rookie isn't an excuse for having a terrible throwing motion and release.

Quick, name me 5 things since Clausen has been in a Panther uniform that he's shown on the field that would give you hope he will be good? You can't include college and you can't include opinions, like saying Clausen hit Stewart "in stride", right LPF?

Clausen deserves a fair chance. He is a rookie in a terrible offensive system, on top of a major youth movement. He has no vets to learn under. Look at what Delhomme has done for McCoy in Cleveland. But unless God himself walks onto the field in a Carolina uniform, no one will be satisfied.
more than that, we deserve a good QB. i really don't care about clausen, unless he turns out to be a stud (which i don't see happening at this point).

if you have a chance to draft the next great elite QB at #1 next year and your QB situation is far from being settled, you draft him.

If you go by the practice field and actually watch, he is dead on accurate in practice, he is just scared on gameday. You cannot judge any QB fairly until 40-45 starts in the NFL. Clausen has 3.

Well now I'm pissed that the TDs we score in practice don't count on gamedays.

Okay I'll lower my question to three good things you've seen on gameday. Go.

I agree with you, that's why I believe you keep Clausen in for the rest of the season and let him sink or swim. But keep in mind that Luck has only started 2 seasons in college and if he comes out his junior year with a career total less than 5,500 yards and 40 TD's then I draw up a red flag.

1. Clausen throws the ball away rather than force something that's not there. (i.e Moore vs. Giants).

2. Clausen has a quick release, although he doesn't have a big arm.

3. Clausen is getting game day reps, which will prepare him more than riding the bench all season.

Now let me ask you a question. Name three things you've seen that are positive on the offense in general? Double trouble sure as hell isn't getting 100+ yard games. The O-line sure as hell isn't holding up for the running game, much less the passing game consisting of rookies throwing to rookies. Steve Smith is non-existent. Answer that one. Go.

1. This is an opinion that it is a good thing, it can be argued that he is scared to make a play and therefor can't move the offense?

2. He absolutely does not have a quick release that's a big part as to why defensive linemen can knock the ball down because they know when he is going to throw it because he winds up.

3. Him just being on the field isn't him doing something positive.

Here I'll get you started...

He threw a very nice pass to LaFell for a 44 yd gain.

When David Gettis is on the field with a competent QB he has shown he can run great routes and make a difference in games.

Brandon LaFell has improved and showed he can be a threat opposite Gettis/Smith.

DWill can make plays when there aren't any holes.

Moore showed he can win/be productive without a run game, but it's nicer to have one.

Agreed. I love how Gettis is really showing that he was by far the best player we drafted. LaFell is starting to come around, I like his progression. Keep in mind that the question you were given had a larger pool of answers than mine.

oh, and I have another one to add to the Clausen list: his first TD against against the saints. Along with his decent mobility to rollout/ scramble when things aren't there.
