Fiz's 7 point plan

what do those things have to do with clausen's terrible delivery and mechanics

Hell, if it was 3rd and 8 and the defense sent a heavy rush and I had 2 seconds to throw the ball (-1 second to drop back), I'd throw like your mother too. Give him time in the pocket and allow him to gain some chemistry with the WR's and you will see improvement. Remember, the rookie WR's have made some miscues as well.

he can get the ball over the defensive line?

I haven't abandoned all hope with Clausen but jeez, not being able to get the ball over the D-line is a major problem.

Especially since it's not that the D-lines are making big plays, last week he hit the saints d-lineman as he was standing flat footed and Clausen hit him in the elbow. C'mon, tell me that is the o-lines fault

What about clausen makes people think he'll develop?

I mean what was that moment when you decided "yeah this kids got all the throws in him he just needs the game to slow down"

I mean besides the obvious blind optimism.

What are some better developed WRs going to fix his chin-high point of release

Really, in 8 games with one of the worst offensive groups in history a rookie QB's future can be predicted.

Amazing!

I'm not convinced that Clausen can be judged a bust yet. And I wouldn't favor giving up on him so soon.

But with that said, I think Andrew Luck is one of those players you just can't pass up. I believe he will turn out to be one of those truly special players. And even if Clausen becomes the best that he can be, I don't believe he'll be what Luck could be.

That's why I favor drafting Luck if we can.

Fair enough. As someone said earlier, a new coach would want his own guy under center. I have nothing against a potential Elite player like Luck, I'm only against the morons that can determine how good a rookie QB is going to be after 3.5 games. That, plus it would be the third QB we drafted within 2010-2011 (not including A.E). Hurney has had an eye for talent in the past, granted it was mainly on the defensive side of the ball.

Let's just give Clausen a fair chance and allow him to go through some growing pains. I mean, you practically have to, you used a 2nd rounder on the guy.

clausen has his chance the rest of the season.

i feel safe in saying that while he may look better at the end of the season than he has so far, it won't be enough to pass up someone like luck, esp. if it means getting jim harbaugh as HC.

i feel pretty good about our chances of drafting a better QB than clausen next year. if we can do it, we should.

whatever we do, though. we need a solid and experienced vet to come in and help out. at the very least to have him on the sidelines.

Well, if you do draft Luck, then what? QB controversy? Luck/Clausen/Pike. Does Clausen get the boot? i.e trade him for a draft pick? or are you keeping him on the team incase something happens to Luck? What if by some random act Clausen blossoms in camp and beats out Luck for the starting position for the season, then what?

All these scenario's need to be accounted for.

And just for kicks, would JR allow the Panthers to draft another QB, only to promise Luck he's the future just like they did Clausen? Knowing JR, he will want to trade down. So many scenario's that have to be looked at on both sides of the argument.

if clausen does well in the long run this season we likely won't have a chance to draft luck anyway, but if he doesn't do well we could be staring the no.1 pick in the face most likely giving us luck on a silver platter

one thing we can at least do this season is try to hedge our bets. at least we didn't tie a whole lot into jimmy anyway

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
