Lowest Point of Fandom in Panthers Franchise History

If THIS is as low as it gets, we're all lucky.

At least we don't have to live through years of being awful like the Raiders and Lions of recent history have had to.

But, the Raiders were known for excellence before these most recent years and won multiple Super Bowls. They have been known for some of the greatest players in the history of the game.

Same can be said for the Lions, except no Super Bowls... They had perhaps the greatest RB in the history of the game (he was my favorite player EVER), and just look at their playoff appearances:

Playoff Appearances 15 - 1932, 1935, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1957, 1970, 1982, 1983, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999

In the 90's they were fairly successful consistently.

We've never had that and already have a 1-15 season under our belt, and most likely another one this year.

I'd say we're a lot worse off than the Lions have ever been in terms of sustained SUCK.

Sundays are so depressing. I'll still watch the game but not because they might win I am not delusional. Each week I am more mad at the FO for this bullshit. Why can't they spend an average amount of money? Just because there is a lockout looming does not mean you HAVE TO go ROCK BOTTOM spending, just like it doesn't mean no cap let's spend everything! Just seems stupid. More appropriate spending might not have made this team win more but it would have helped.

How is it more helpful to kill all hopes and show your team winning isn't the goal, where the hell is the motivation in that? How does throwing rookies to the dogs help the future of this team? Hell if I were Beason and Dwill and these other vets getting screwed I wouldn't even want to play here anymore, not for JR.

If that happens THEN what does this do for the team's future? .

I have never seen anything like our lack of scoring! Does not even resemble the game of football.

Sad but true. The coaching staff just do not even seem to care.

Yes, please say more. 3 QB's drafted??????

Let's see: There is that Clausen guy that cannot play football, that tall 6'7" giant that goes down so easily, but who is that third QB?

Ow yes, Armanti Edwards !!! The guy that had almost 15,000 yards as a QB in college! The "not an NFL QB" that rushed for almost 5,000 yards in college! The person that the announcers have said he "has a laser arm in practice!" The guy that threw a 70 yard TD to the end zone in college that the defenders gave up on it because they thought it was ridiculous and that no one could throw it that far, and the announcer, former NFL coach of a Super Bowl team, that said that few NFL QB's have ever done that! That guy. I think you must be wrong, because obviously there is no way that he could play QB in the NFL....right?....right?....uh, huh

You said it.

How about, what was it 111 yards on offense today. If Pike didn't have that penalty on him, it would have been what? The worse offensive total of ANY Panthers game. Wow!

Put Armanti Edwards in for a couple of games. It couldn't get any worse. Bet people would be surprised. Would be good to win a few games.

Pie and Rep for you good sir! These App haters will never see it though unfortunately...if only Armanti played at UNC, USC, or Clemson.

Agree with pretty much everything you said... I've suggested that JR's stance may have already had a negative effect on the players in their expiring years and will certainly have a negative effect on bringing in free agents.

But others argue that if that's the case we would've already heard about it from the players, so they suggest this means that JR has probably already told them his plan... Which then infers that he has already told them this year we went cheap to be prepared to sign all of these key young guys (DWill, TD, Kalil, Marshall?, etc.) back after the new CBA is done. This theory suggests that this year was a wash, because JR was prepping the team to come out of a possible lockout year with big cash to spend on FA and lock up our own guys long-term.

Only problem I have with this is that I don't think any of them thought it would be this bad. And after watching a season like this, it makes you question how good the guys we have are... Like DWill. So, let's say that theory is right - JR was saving till the CBA was done and we bring back all these guys. So, how do you give him a fair contract according to market value after a season like this? Do you overpay him?

That's why I don't know that I buy that theory. I want to... But, I just don't see the logic behind it...

All we had to do was bring in a guy like McNabb or Jason Campbell, maybe even Marc Bulger... Troy Smith... just a vet QB to provide solid competition and possibly start. And a WR like Boldin... Maybe some more depth on the OL, but I'm not really sure how much that matters. All those guys compared to the $16 mil we shelled out for one guy the year before and then let walk for no compensation is nothing.

This has been my fear since the offseason. Sad thing about this is, I see it playing out exactly like this. I think we're going to lose our core players, and be bad for some years. My gosh, my gosh....

There are still 8 games lol

Yes, if he had played for Cryolina or NC hate he would have probably started this year.

Didn't play BCS football, so must not be able to play football, yet Michigan, LSU, and about a dozen BCS schools mentioned that they wished they had him.

Funny how they say he can't be an NFL QB because of how tall he is and he is virtually the same as Brees and Vick.

6'0 184 and 6'0 215 is a big difference for a QB in the NFL
