Lowest Point of Fandom in Panthers Franchise History

At least we can say we were apart of something...

You can flame if you want, I just need to vent. This is so ridiculous and I just can't understand how the FO went into this season thinking it would be okay. I don't feel like re-hashing all the moves we DIDN'T make that led us here. Releasing the guys we did didn't matter, it was what we didn't do that got us here.

Then, you look at the state of things on the field now... It's just sad. The fans were cheering on the Saints last TD like they were the home team. I've pointed out before, even as rough as '01 was, for some reason you were still excited to watch b/c the team was capable of winning and scoring to some degree. From what I remember, we lost a number of games, if not most of them in the 4th quarter and/or on last second plays. Smitty was an exciting rookie, and threatened to take it back at anytime. We still didn't know what Weinke was, and presented a lot of potential. There were several other bright spots on a rather bleak season...

This year. Our defense is pretty good, besides Godfrey and Marshall's repeated brain farts. Offense none. DWill and Stew went from great to horrible for no apparent reason, because although the line sucks, they still shouldn't be as bad as they have been.

Put all this together and look... We're not losing games on last second drives/plays. We're losing games before we even step on the field and the fans know it just as the players do. It almost gives you no incentive to watch now. We already know we can't score, so as soon as the opponents do just that in the 1st quarter, our game is over.

I've neglected so much homework for classes wasting my time watching this team then spending the rest of my day pissed off because of them.

We really are at the lowest point ever as Panthers fans, there is no immediate hope or answers.

I remember that stuff... Like Ricky Williams last second run to win was unbelievable. For some reason the Detroit game stands out in my mind for some reason as well... IDK why, I think that game got fairly ugly though.

The difference is though, in 01 we at least could say we were there most games in the 4th, but this team is out of it from the beginning. At least I had a reason to watch the game till the end besides some kind of sick humorous reasons I watch now.

No doubt, the CB duo of Doug Evans and Jimmy Hitchcock IIRC was all-time poo list worthy, but we were still in games.

Seriously, what was it today? 9 passing yards at the half? The NFL should just make us forfeit the rest of our games until some changes are made.

Yup, 2001 seemed worse to me. This season, I've gone into every game with some glimmer of hope that we could pull out a win, in 2001 I knew we were going to lose.

IDK guys, maybe it was because of the youthful hope I held then when I was 15 or 16, I just never remember feeling this miserable about the team. I still thought we could win each week in '01 if we got one break... This year, there's just so much wrong, I don't feel that way.

I really thought nothing could shake my fandom to the point that I would even consider not watching, but I think that day has come.

Let's put it this way.

Ruby Tuesdays has a really good Sunday brunch, that I always skip because I have to be at the sports bar to see the Panthers game. When the season started, I didn't even remember the brunch. By the time We were 0-5, I was starting to think about it; "Man, it's too bad they only have that brunch Sunday, I really wish I could get that again, but I'll have to wait until the season is over. I've got to see my Panthers play."

After today, I really think that next Sunday, the Crab Meat Eggs Benedict might actually win out over watching the Panthers. It's sad, but at least the Eggs Benedict holds the promise of leaving satisfied.
