Bobcats/Bulls Talking Trade for James Johnson?

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that a trade sending James Johnson to Charlotte has emerged one option, but it remains to be seen if such talks get serious … or if Johnson remains as available as he was in the offseason after seizing a rotation spot under new coach Tom Thibodeau.

At this point, yes please. I have a feeling it's another LB trade as Johnson is a big guy that can handle the ball. If it's for Diaw, I'd be all over this even more, b/c from watching Johnson at Wake, he's athletic and will get physical. IDK if he's played like that in the pros, but I'm sure he's an upgrade over Diaw in the physicality area, and he can play SF/PF.

If we're going to trade Diaw, the bobcats definitely need to bring in either (A good shooter/back-up PF) or a Starting/Legitimate Center.

I honestly don't know much about Johnson, but if he fills either of those rolls I'll be happy.

Yeah, I read the other article suggesting it was for Hendo earlier too. I'd like to see what Hendo can do here, but I don't feel like he's going to get a fair shot with LB and each game I've watched this year, he's looked pretty bad - especially passing.

And I watched JJ last night, yeah, he did look uninvolved, but there's a lot of questions there as well... He's with his second coach in as many seasons. He also supposedly had played really well during the preseason and earned a spot in Thibadeaux's (sp?) rotation.

Just from my memories of him at Wake I remember him as a guy that:

*can create his own shot

*can create shots for others with his ball handling but seemed to be more of a blackhole on offense, if he got it, it's probably going to be shot

*athletic

*can be tough and physical but likes to play on the outside, but doesn't have a problem mixing it up

*likes to finish strong in the lane

So, he could bring some skills that Diaw doesn't have or won't do.

By no means would he fix all of our problems, not even close, but I'm just excited for something to happen. And I know I undervalue Diaw a lot, but I'm just tired of his soft play...

Derrick Brown is better then JJ

Honestly, as crazy as it sounds, I've wondered before (and mentioned it on BP but of course no one responded), if we really wanted to shake things up and get a big piece back and traded Crash.

Now, Crash is my favorite player, but hear me out...

We lack a legitimate go-to scorer, we always have. Whether it be a guard or in the post, although I prefer a guard as a go-to guy... That's why we always struggle offensively.

If we traded Crash for a piece like that, I suggested that Brown may not be that big of a drop-off. I know Crash fills up the stat sheet and I love his game. But, because Brown is young, I've wondered if he isn't going to be the same player as Crash the older he gets or even better offensively. He already came in the league with athleticism (not quite to Crash's level, but still high up there), he has a better shot than Crash ever has or will naturally, and he's about the same size, he's physical and can play the 4 too. So how much would we really drop off in the long term? Plus, Crash is getting older and has had so many injuries.

I love Crash and would hate to see him go, but if we were able to get a key piece - a go-to scorer, post player, etc. - then it may not hurt us as bad as we think.
