minecraft is pretty much the best game ever made

1.7.3 dropped this morning/last night. Ive verified that the update is compatible with the server so feel free to update now. When the new bukkit build comes out I may need to restart but that takes just a few seconds.

I have to hand it to Notch... he got on the bugs with Pistons pretty quickly. Impressive considering he's a, what, two or three man show?

I can't wait for 1.8. It sounds like a ton of fun.

so. i've been out of town for the past several months with only a netbook and I see that MC is up to 1.9 now with sprinting and villages and poo. Sounds like I'll be trying to get back to it again once i get back home for a couple of days.

I've been playing with it since the 1.9 prerelease 1 update. They've actually released a Version 2 of 1.9 in the past couple days.

The village thing is nifty. Right now NPC Villagers are just place holders that look like the Squid character from Futurama and all have a name over their head that says "TESTIFICATE". Still, if you can find a village in a new world, it will give you a head start and a place to wait out monsters.

The new biomes are cool. There's Ocean, swamp, mountain and mushroom (I believe one more too, but can't remember). I've seen a ton of swamp biomes. I've only seen one Mushroom Biome, and that was using a specific seed to create a new world with mushrooms nearby to check it out. Snow Biomes appear to be broken at the moment.

They also added Ruins. I've yet to find one. Supposedly they are shallow ground level dungeons that have chests and stuff. The floor of Ocean Biomes seem to be the home of new spawn areas called Adandoned Mine Shafts. These are canyon-like areas with broken up sections of rails and half wooden support beams, like it was all falling apart. The Nether also has dungeons now made of Netherbrick.

There's a several new block types... like the Netherbrick... but there are also stone bricks, fence gates, and a bunch of other things.

Most of these new areas have new mobs associated with them. Like the Cave Spider, Silverfish, and Lava Slime (I think that's what it's called). There is also the Enderman. He's seriously the most freakish thing they've put in the game.

They also have a new Creative Mode, which you can enable when you create a new world. It gives you flight, invulnerabilty, and open access to any quantity of any inventory-style item. Basically god mode to just simply build till your heart's content if you want to ignore the survival/collection aspect.

There's also animal breeding... more farming crops... etc... etc... it really is a ton of stuff they've added.

The most interesting thing about 1.9pre2, is it has glass bottles, and coding for special effects for a potion buff system. I can't wait till they give us the full 1.9 release. Hell, I can't wait till they give us the full game in a couple months.

I just bought this game.

I have never played it before....who wants to give me the basics of survival mode? Besides surviving...lol.

Not really sure how to make different things....

Guess I should have watched the tutorial vids on the site...pretty helpful.
