minecraft is pretty much the best game ever made

Sounds like he is looking at a lot of the Mods out there and taking little things from each one.

They do I remember roman Victor Wurm took alot from it. It was a interesting concept but developer sucked. Wurm is actually a good one but it could be improved alot. Think Mine craft just to the fun things from Wurm. But I would like to see one that is half way in between. Wurm is very labor intensive it takes 50 actions just to mine a piece of a tunnel. But it still is fun. Would like to see one where it is player orientated but have communities and better interaction. I dont see minecraft lasting until he gets it more realistic.

Also Notch worked on Wurm. That is the reason I said that.

I'd heard of Wurm, but never really checked it out. So I just looked some of the game play videos and read up on it.

Yeah, I can see some similarities. Wurm looks like it might have been REALLY cool had it been done right. But the animations were awful (Minecraft's seem more fluid even though it looks like 16-bit blocks), and maybe it's biggest failing was making it MMO only.

If Notch can give Minecraft a more compelling purpose than just to build-build-build, then it could be one of the best games ever. It will be interesting to see if the freedom of the game as it is now translates to the final version (like having a single player/multiplayer duality). I'm wondering now if I shouldn't have got into this game a year from now.

Wurm has 2 servers 1 is (PVP) the other is (PvE) the main problem is the fighting system sucks. You basicly stand there and hope you win. No animation to it at all. I like the PvE dont care for fighting any way.

Yeah the animation is pretty bad they are improving but very small group of workers. The best thing is the enviroment you actually get drawn into what you are doing and it actually seems like you are there. The community is small which also helps. What they really need to do is start another world and update the game Infustructure. But they are to worried about improving the PVP server to care. ( which only has 100 people compared to (PvE) which has 400.

Yeah... it's the same poo as last time. Just gotta get him to reset the server so i can get the up to date world file then asking for a refund. You guys will have to play on Iminicus' personal server, I'll upload the worldfile to something in case you guys want it.

edit: It's back up. I get the feeling it'll be down again in a day. Here's the world file just in case. I think the guy is gonna give me access to reboot the server on my end but i dunno.

I guess we can always just try some custom maps on it since i have it for a month for free anyway.

Vanilla server doesn't need a Nether Folder(saved automatically into the world). If you're using the Bukkit server mod then you have to convert it.. from what I remember it's pretty easy to do. [Here]

As for OPs I opped everyone online that one night, so Kurb, tarheelblue89 and you. I think I'll relegate my server to hosting custom maps now :D

edit: also 1.7 just came out. so i guess you'll be using vanilla (or not updating) until new bukkit comes out (if you use bukkit)

We should do a survival island map.

Also I can't even get on Minecraft. Says cannot connect to minecraft.net

It's cuz of the update. Im gonna wait it out, had the choice of updating within moments of it coming out but i knew notch would be all herpderp and release some more versions right afterwards like 1.7.1 and stuff (which he did). bajillion people trying to download a pretty important update (for custom map makers and casual players both cuz of the pistons)

There is a hole in my tunnel system that goes up and down. I have been trying to get down there and I keep dying and losing all my poo. Especially all the wood I took from my house.

It's not been a good day.

Warning about 1.7 Pistons being underwater: It is buggy right now. Can crash a save.

On my Single-player Survival save, I have a spire that is surrounded by a walled courtyard. In the back of the courtyard, there is a boat dock inside the wall that leads to the ocean behind it. I wanted to create a "dock gate" by which I could use a lever to "open" the port and sail from the walled area out. Reason being is that animals will spawn in my courtyard and jump into the water of the dock, then push the boats out to sea.

I'd tried doors, but they weren't working in the water correctly (they would make a single block "hole" in the ocean). But with sticky pistons, I figured I could make this work with some cobblestone. The dock water depth is three blocks, so I put the piston on the bottom level, then dropped a cobblestone block on top of the piston. I then put a lever on the wall adjacent to the column where the piston is and wired it down to the piston level with redstone.

The idea is that the piston would push the cobblestone UP one level when the door was "closed", and down one level when it was "open". If that worked, I was going to wire up more pistons and blocks around the sides of the wall opening and make a true door.

As soon as I hit the lever, my screen froze, then I saw a dirt background like you see at the main MC loading screen, and it said "Saving Chunks", the the MC client crashed.

I re-opened MC and tried to load my save, and boom... same crash. All I can think now is "Oh poo, I've ruined my game."

I checked my backups, and the last one was over a week ago... :(. I'd made some huge builds in the nether to create a portal system, and had found over 30 diamonds in the past week (found an 8-block vein). I did not want to lose all that.

So I fiddled around with deleting some of the save files, or manually editing them with a text editor. Nothing was working... finally, I started looking for an on-line solution.

I discovered MCEdit. Downloaded it, figured out how to use it, then loaded up my save. Fortunately, the save DID load into MCEdit. I moved my player a few blocks from the bugged area... then wiped out a 4x10 section around the piston by replacing the blocks with air.

Thank god... this worked... the save loaded ok with just a big gaping hole in the exit to my dock area, which was easily patched up.

So... anyhow... you've been warned. Pistons can be bad.

Well Seamonk, I'd like to personally apologize for all the work you put into that draw bridge.

The genius that I am tried to make my house "cool" but decorating it will netherack. Forgetting that my house is made out of wood. Well ya you can pretty much figure out how this one ends.

I am truly sorry.
