Smith's leadership makes up for the lost step

That was years ago and he learned a lot from that. It isn't about making mistakes, everyone does that. it is what you learn from making them. Why don't you discuss what Lucas showed him about forgiveness for the sake of the team and how Smitty admitted that he had been distant from the team and self absorbed. By Lucas's example he learned about being part of the team and putting the team above self.

Part of what Smith is doing now is using the things he has learned over the past decade and putting them into practice now.

Why don't you take Lucas's advice and forgive a little. It isn't what Smitty was but what he is now. And frankly I like it.

What are you Steve Smith's publicist? That has got to be stressful.

Why did Steve not learn the first time that cheap shoting a teamate wasn't good the first time he made someone go to a hospital. I mean do we really have to congratulate Steve for not punching someone in two years because that what it feels like we are doing. His quotes are ordinary run of the mill football quotes you see everyday, and we are suppose to say "Wow good job Stever, you have come a long way." If the dude acted like Moose it would be good, but his attitude is still a world's apart from Moose's.

Good post Panthers55. Its good to see other Panther fans recognize the intangibles that Smitty brings to this team. Panther fans that are overconcerned with egos and attitudes are losers in life. They've never been great at anything, so they dont understand the confidence and swagger that comes with that. They're put off by that. Not all of us Panther fans want everything associated with this franchise to be boring and lifeless. Some of us Panther fans care more about winning than if I would get a beer with this guy or that guy. I blame Jerry Richardson, he's too image conscious and its trickled down to alot of our fanbase. I just wish we had more players on our team with Smitty's fire and desire on the field. We'd be alot better franchise.

Yeah because all good players have attitude and swagger, and all the bad one don't. Swagger isn't even the issue. Being a bad teamate is.

Link???? Now you are making things up to justify your own arguments.

Anyone who knows Smitty over the years wouldn't say he was mature, a leader or anything else. Like I said this is the first time I have seen him step up like this.

You are right. I am making poo up. You are the first person to say Smith is a good teamate.

It is obvious you have a problem with Smith for some reason and it colors your every response to make it biased and easily dismissed. You keep throwing things against the wall hoping something will stick. We aren't comparing Smith to Moose or rehashing the past from 2 or 10 years ago. We are discussing the present and how he is emerging as a leader now which is different from his past.

Bottom line is that Smith is emerging as a leader on this team regardless of what he has done in the past. I am willing to dwell in the now and be grateful he has come around to this.

If you want to spread your dislike about him, feel free. But don't expect to make any headway or convince anyone with those old lame reheated arguments. it is 2010 not 2001, feel free to join us in the present.

Nothing I have said isn't true accept you being the first person to say Smith is a good teammate. People believe in what they want to believe. Some people think Jerry Richardson has an agenda against black QB's etc. You are a fan boy of a guy who gets touchdowns for the Panthers, that is fine. Don't let that fool you into thinking that guy is a leader.

They say the first step in changing is admitting you have a problem.

Now that you have admitted you are full of poo, you can decide to be different. Freeing isn't it???

This is on record...a time I agree with P55. Smith has had to carry a burden on his shoulders ( being the only threat) he admitted he had a problem by wanting to be the #2WR. He's hade this burden since 2002. Call that a bad leader...but hell, for all we know, Pepp wanted to be a leader, but couldn't do it, because of high expectations.

Is that what could call a loser?

I really doubt Smith is a leader. Matter of fact I would be shocked as poo if he was one. Most great WRs are not leaders by any stretch and most have a diva complex.

That is the point. Smith has been a diva and self absorbed. That is why this declaration is so important. Frankly I can't see him admitting he was getting it done and needs to play better in year's past.

Panthers.com did an article on Smitty being a leader and P55 linked us to it. By golly, he must be a changed man now.

Shut your mouth fool. P55 is coming up with this complex story about how Lucas sacrificied for the team showing Smitty how to sacrifice, making him a leader who shoot rainbows outta his ass.

Can't wait for the ending.

So now that you don't have anything of substance to add, you resort to insults to belittle me in the hopes it makes you bigger. Honestly reminds of being back in middle school.
