Biggest Busts In Panther History

It wasn't actually our bust so I apologize for the pseudo-derailment. But there was a WR that the 49ers picked maybe 3-4 years ago that I was really hoping we'd get him. I think his ne was Rashaun Woods? Something like that. Can't even remember why I wanted him, but I guess we lucked out because I don't think he plays ball anymore.

It's ok. A few years ago I was hoping we would pick JJ Arrington. Arizona got him a little before us, but we picked Eric Shelton so I guess you could say Arrington was actually the better pick. You know, since he actually saw the field. We all know Hurney sucked at drafting WRs as well and the recent track record with D-line players hasn't been too great either. As for the current projects, the only ones I'm worried about are Everette Johnson and Armanti. AE seems like an injury case waiting to happen.

Dwayne Jarrett, Biakabatuka was one of the best RB's ive ever seen before he blew his knee out, Ray Carruth was awesome until he killed his girlfriend, Kerry Colbert always sucked:nono:
Rae Carruth was anything but awesome, he was just fast. His only complete season was his rookie year, where he caught 44 balls for 545 yards. By comparison, Keary Colbert caught 47 for 754 in the same number of games his rookie year. Carruth was injured his second year, and did nothing in his third outside of hiring someone to kill his girlfriend.

He could have worked out to be a decent NFL receiver, but he didn't exactly have star written all over him.

I still am in complete shock that people would consider EB & AE busts this early in their careers.

I will definitely agree though that EB cost way more than what should have been paid (in terms of trading a 1st round to get him). He was supposed to be ready by this year, and while he has improved, it's pretty clear he's not there yet. 10 more pounds this off season, and if he's still at the same level of production next season, then by all means, bust his ass O_O

EB & AE as "biggest draft busts" in the short history of the franchise I think might be due to the extra salt in people's diets that comes from losing :( If we were 6-1 nobody would give a poo about Brown or Edwards this season, even if they weren't contributing to begin with.

The best comparison to Everette Brown in his class is Jerry Hughes (Brown came out a year early). Hughes was a first round pick of the Colts, and he's done next to nothing this year despite having Freeny and Mathis to occupy the minds of the opposing offense. To date, Brown has shown that he can play in the league, although he still needs to improve. He's got an amazing first step, and works his ass off. It's too early for the bust label, and as long as he's playing well enough to warrant any significant playing time at all then it shouldn't ever really apply, even if he never becomes a star. The people calling him a bust now are the same ones who gave Thomas Davis the same label when he struggled with the transition to Linebacker his first two seasons.

As far as AE, you should be happy to hear people throw the bust label on him already. That gives you a quick and easy identifier of who the truly stupid people on the board are, and you can ignore just about everything else they have to say without worrying that you'll miss something of consequence.

I have a hard time calling anything past the 3rd round a bust personally, so that limits my perspective.

That being said, Jarrett was a larger bust than any receiver we've taken in recent memory to me.

Too early to label EB a bust. Can you say he wasn't worth his pick? This is a different argument, IMO. I don't think he's a bust but I do question whether he was worth it. Time will tell on that though and I do think he works hard, so hopefully it'll pan out. Same goes for AE.
