Lost!!!!!

Wow, I am surprised at all the hate on the finale. I must admit, I was a little pissed at first, but the longer I sat on it, and thought about it, I started to love it. I was all about wanting most of the mysteries answered, but the finale proved that it was not what was important. The Island mysteries dont have an answer. They just are. There is no reason, there is no explanation it just is. It has always been there, it will always be there, and someone will always have to protect it. They gave us enough for us to put the pieces together, and figure out almost any question you could ask. I cannot think of a question, that I cant think about for a min or two, and come up with a good reasonable answer to it. Now, I have watched all the seasons at least twice, including this season, and all the special features, interviews and internet videos. So that helps in learning the answers I am sure.

That is one of the things that will make Lost live on for years to come. We will still be talking and debating what the reason for this and that was.

I was so afraid This whole season that the Alt was a reset. I thought it would be the out come of whatever happened on the Island. When I learned it was not, I was so happy. I did not want a reset on everything I had watched for 6 years.

+1.

Gut instinct when it went off was I didn't think I liked it. Thought about it for a minute and love and it more and more.

LOST has always been about the characters more so than the island mystery. Every season the producers preach that over and over. The ending was true to that thought process imo. The island mystery made the show interesting though.

Plus, Kate in that little black dress made be totally forget the long list of questions I had. Crafty bastards.

I am also amazed at the reactions to the ending. Did I like it? Not particularly, I also wanted more explanations of the science of the island. I'm tired of finales with heaven & hell, religious themes. That's why I loved the Matrix ending and not that of BSG. But in a funny way this ending was satisfying. It closed the story well.

BTW I thought I heard Christian say that in order to be redeemed, a person had to remember their own death too. Remember Ana Lucia (sp) and Daniel weren't ready.

But for anyone to say that the previous years spent watching Lost were wasted???????? That I will never understand, ever. You could not have had the ending we did without the story as it was presented, all of it.

So, what was the "something" that Desmond was? Any guesses? I loved how he told Eloise Hawking that he chose to ignore her. :D

I'll be watching it again, maybe tonight.

I'm one of the people who wanted to know exactly what the island was going into the finale. I wouldn't have cared if they just suddenly ceased to exist, as long as they told us what the island was. That being said, I'm still very happy with the way it ended.

Whatever the island is, I think it was merely a tool for the characters to use. The story of LOST is only a small portion of the story of the island. One chapter, if you will. This story was about this group of people who are able to use the island as a way to redeem their lives. To fix their problems. The DHARMA Initiative used the island to help save mankind by changing any one of "the numbers". The DHARMA Initiative, the ruins, the statue, and everything else were merely to show that what they were experiencing was really happening. People had been to the island before, and will be there after them.

LOST is just the story of the people we got to know for many seasons, not of the island.

Did they explain what the numbers were all about?

You have to follow LOST outside the show to know really. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Numbers

Essentially the numbers come from the Valenzetti Equation. It is a mathematical formula designed to predict when humanity will end. A purpose of the DHARMA Initiative was to change these numbers in order to extend the existence of humanity. Where their power comes from is still open for interpretation. The writers always said they wouldn't answer that question.
