Lost!!!!!

Thought it was a great episode. Some things could have been better, or could have been answered, but all in all it was very good. I'm still interested to see who builds the wheel that can make you leave the island. I guess the MiB will still build it and realize he can't leave.

So I noticed that the series finale is scheduled to air May 23rd, and that is a Sunday. I wonder if they have something really cool planned for that day or something.

I enjoyed the episode as well. Is there a single character on LOST that the writers haven't made you sympathize with? Even those that at one time have seemed pure evil -- Linus, MIB, etc. -- are shown with depth and humanity. The LOST writers are masters of characterization.

I think the finale is 2.5 hours long (2:30) and it's on May 23 -- hey, wasn't Jack No. 23? ;)

With answers flowing now people are going to either hate it or love it. There's not much middle ground anymore. The major appeal of the show is trying to figure out answers to the questions - if you don't like the answers that were given then it is what it is.

At least we now know what was in Marcellus Wallace's briefcase.

Ok, I was entertained when I was watching, but the more I think about it the more I dont get it. We were supposed to understand the MIB's motives and who he is. I am still confused. He hated his mother who killed his real mother, but he has the same beliefs as her on humanity. He wanted to build the wheel so that he could leave. I am even fine with the explanation for how the wheel works. I really dont see any other way to explain it. Why would him leaving be so bad? Is this light the evil? I just dont get it. How and why did he bring Syid and Claire back from the dead? Why does the (good guy) Jacob follow a murdering mad woman, and yet he doesn't share the same beliefs as her. My only guess is that she some how gave Jacob all of the light in her, and gave MIB all of the darkness. This was supposed to be the tell all episode. I am fine with not telling us how the Mother got there, I am fine with them not telling us where the Island came from, but I want to understand the two main players here in Jacob and MIB. I dont feel like I know either of them any better than I did before this show started. I never expected every question to be answered, but I do expect after following this show for six years they would give me enough to where I understood the overall meaning of the show. I am not giving up yet, but we have a lot to learn in 3 1/2 hours of TV.

I have questions 1 Who filled in the hole? 2 What is mibs name ? 3 is mib dead at the end of the show?

1) Most assume the mother. How? We aren't sure yet. Maybe she has smokey abilities. Or some other supernatural ability achieved by touching the light 2) We have no idea. His mother didn't give him a name, maybe he is just nameless. I prefer to call him Nemesis. 3) The MiB's body appears to be dead. As far as his "soul" or "entity" we are to assume it is not gone, as he has wandered the island, and is now in the form of Locke. He may only be able to take the form of the deceased, which would mean he could technically still use his own likeness.

I thought the show was interesting and entertaining. We now know what the black and white stones are all about. We know the origin of Jacob and MIB. We know they were both made special by their "mother." They both know the island holds a mysterious energy, the light. They both know their "mother" made it so they can't "hurt" each other... even though we clearly see Jacob beat the piss out of MIB in the episode, so I'm assuming this translates as they can't kill each other. Best of all, we don't really know at this point who truly is the "bad" guy and who is the "good" guy, or if either will even be defined as such at the end of the series.

I dug it.

Yea, that's pretty much the same thing I feel. While we come away from this episode with little additional knowledge than when we entered it, I still feel it's good to know the story, and at least the basics of the islands power heading into the finale.

As far as good and evil, I don't think the creators will ever give a clear cut line. Good and evil is all relative, and I believe that will continue. They have both been wronged in the past by their "mother" and both currently want different things, but can't achieve them if the other does.

Ever since we saw Jacob and his brother sitting on the beach next to the statue talking a few seasons ago, I've been dying for an episode like this.

Oh, and Jacob's brother... if they haven't revealed his name yet.. it's gotta be a zinger. 10 bucks on Satan.

Ok, someone who updated the ABC youtube channel made a fib and put MiB's name on there, and it's Esau. Here is a screen cap of the screw up (has been fixed since):

I believe the fake mother, is a smoke monster herself. I believe her whole intention of raising the boys was so someone could kill her and set her free. She knew that the light was "worse than death" and that's why she thanked MiB when he killed her. How else would a woman that old kill a whole camp of people, pull him out of a well, and fill a well in a short amount of time?

I believe the MiB from this episode is dead. The smoke monster took over his "form", and probably kept his memories, but I don't believe it's really Jacob's brother. The original MiB wasn't really that bad, but just wanted off the island.

I'm pretty much 99% sure this is fake. People have been referring to the MiB as Esau (in reference to the biblical brothers) since we first were introduced to these two characters in last season's finale. Someone just made that.

While I do believe that is fake, it is entirely possible that his name is Esau. The story of Jacob and the Nemesis share some moderate similarities to the story of Jacob and Esau of the bible.

    • I'd be willing to wager most if not all of us have, at some point, found ourselves in a situation where we just stopped giving a sh-t. This is especially true when you realize the people leading your particular group or organization are incompetent.
