In the original timeline Sawyer was a con-man. He was not a cop. He was arrest by police in Sydney for bar fights, and punching some agricultural political guy or something. He was never imprisoned. Instead he was put on a flight home to LAX. The flight was 815 which crashed on the island.

Most of the stuff people are changed in the new alternate timeline because Jacob hadn't touched them. He didn't need them to come to the island, so they had more "free will" and weren't guided by Jacob. At least that's what I think.

Sawyer was in prison in one of his flashback episodes, I forget what season though.

I think he could be being conned by Whitmore and Locke. They both seemed to have strange reactions when explaining how he'd help each one of them.

This is actually correct. I forgot the woman that had his daughter Clementine turned him in. Her name was Cassidy I believe. She came to visit him in jail to tell him he had a daughter.

I believe it's a little more involved than just a lack of Jacob's touch although that is a big part of the "real" timeline. In the ALT, something much earlier than the 815 crash didn't happen. Ben & his dad left the island & the DI on their own before then. Desmond isn't on the island pushing buttons (he was on the plane, remember?). And I think the island is sunken in the alternate.

Bomb goes off in the alternate, doesn't go off in the "real"?? The time travelers were sent back to present in either case?? idk :conf:

^ Yea something much more definitely happened. Maybe Jacob's nemesis got "released" from his imprisonment earlier, and he was able to stop Jacob from finding a replacement before all that happened. When the island is under water, the statue of Tawaret is mostly destroyed (just the foot is there) so I think this has to have some relevance as to win the island was sunk.

It definitely told a LOT of story in 1 hour. I was enthralled.

:iagree:

The whole thing is still whirling around in my head.

One thing that I noticed was how dramatic and dark the music became when the original MiB we know is sitting by himself only to lighten up when Jacob walks up. Are they telling us MiB really is the evil one? Am I the only one that thinks he's a serial liar?

I think most people probably believe that Dark vs. Light is Good vs. Evil, and that the MiB(evil) would do anything to get off the island, including lie. But a lot of what they have shown us so far as proven that there is no definite line between Good and Evil. At this point, being as it is LOST, they could definitely be baiting us in to something and throwing a curveball at us.
