Pretty good start. I think all the crap that littered the past few seasons will be gone and it'll focus back to the main storyline....the story that could have been told with 3-4 seasons. They milked it as much as they could and now they're back to the meat and potatoes of the plot.

Somehow they'll have to merge the alternate timelines/universes/whatever. It'll be interesting to see how that happens.

Some stupidness, but like you guys I am very pleased to see that this season is clearly not going to mess around.

Can't wait to see the connection between Jacob, Richard, and whoever is the guy who looks like John. He's supposed to be that one black haired dude who talked to Jacob on that beach scene that one episode when the statue was whole right?

So, is Sayid resurrected? or Jacob reincarnated?

I think it's Jacob. The fact that the water wasn't clear could be because Jacob was dead so the healing powers of the pool were gone. They didn't know why the water wasn't clear because at the time they didn't know Jacob was dead.

There were some cool subtle things in the premiere. The flight attendant only gave Jack 1 bottle of liquor - in the pilot it was 2 - he drank 1 and had the other to clean his wound that Kate stitched up - since the plane wasn't crashing he didn't need the 2nd bottle. Charlie was 'supposed to die' - that was a running theme in the previous season where he did die - Jack originally saved him both times. The interaction with Locke and Jack at LAX - Locke said nothing could be done about his condition but Jack said anything is possible(role reversal of man of science vs man of faith). The guy that was holding Kate smashed his forehead in the original crash - Kate smashed his forehead at LAX.

I hope they have a good ending for Locke. It's too depressing to think his entire life was spent being used by other people - his dad for his kidney, the cop to bust the pot growers, the smoke monster, etc.

Pretty good premier...questions:

Desmond disappeared from the plane. Jack asked about him. What happened to him?

One thing that bugged me about the premier: where were all these hippie temple people the entire time since Oceanic 815 crash? They aren't Others it seems.

Sayid is now Jacob...didn't think of that but very nice. Upcoming battle between Locke/Dark Man and Sayid/Jacob then....I figured the water was cloudy because Jacob was dead.

Didn't Boone get his leg cut off in season one? Boone to Locke: "Youre pulling my leg aren't you?"

I think the people in the temple are Jacob's people and the 'others' have been manipulated by the smoke monster the whole time(but think they're following Jacob). At the end of the last season the people carrying Locke's body see that the circle of ash was broken and said Jacob hadn't been there for a long time. Now that the manipulation is exposed the smoke monster will take charge of the 'others' through intimidation and they'll battle the temple people.

As for Desmond the only thing I can think of is that he saw Jack saving Charlie and has the same premonitions he had before about Charlie is supposed to die. Maybe it freaks him out so he just goes to a different part of the plane. It might be an important part of the plot, I'm sure they'll explain at some point.

They will fug it up, and everyone will feel ripped off.

Don't get your hopes up people.

This is about LOST, not the Panthers. :P

Good points here. I didn't notice many of those things. It was funny to see some of the older, more minor characters resurface (Art, etc.).

I knew as soon as Jacob told Hurley to take Sayid to the temple that his plan was to "inhabit" Sayid's body, just as the smoke monster found a loophole to inhabit John Locke's body. (Of course, it could actually be Sayid -- you never know anything with this show.)
