Lost!!!!!

What's ironic is that Sayid never heard Faraday talk about his theories of time travel. Never went to meet Ms Hawking. So he believes he can change the future and attempts to do so. And I don't think he cares if he lives or dies. He's not having thoughts outside of his own personal situation, of "what have I changed for everybody?"

There's a "Lost Untangled" segment at abc.com that I'm going to check out later. I've heard it has some spoilers so be sure about wanting to see those before doing it.

I could believe the getting rid of little Ben to make room for Big Ben. We haven't really seen that happens when a character meets another one of himself, I don't think it ends up good. The Island is probably "course correcting" and you are right, this is probably why Dharma looks different when Christian is standing there. Either this, or the Island won't let him die, just like Locke, just like Michael, etc. Last 2 episodes are slow but we're getting good information.

My money is on the hostiles/others/island resurecting him, much like Christian Shepherd or Locke have done so far. As Faraday says, you can't change what has already happened.

My alternate theory however is that the island wanted Ben to die all along and that was the purpose of Sayid coming to the island in the first place (I remember him saying something about knowing his purpose for coming back to the island). This makes sense in terms of the no babys allowed problem that was occuring for the others/island people when the Losties originally came to the island. The island was punishing the others as Ben was not supposed to be their leader.

Interesting theory, Ounce. I always thought that it was Widmore who wasn't supposed to be a leader even though he thinks he is/was and he was the problem by breaking the rules.

I also think that the past can be changed and that, for the island, time loops until the past is changed so it is put on the correct course again. So the big question for me is who/what decides what the correct course is and when it is achieved? That one will probably not be answered.

Ding ding winner!

What do I win??!!

That seemed like the most likely explanation, though part of me thought that Jack might be the one to save him as well. I'll be interested to know more about how his resurection via the temple ultimately affects who Ben grows up to become. As Alpert alludes to when Kate and Sawyer hand him over, "he will never be the same, his innocence will be gone. he will be one of us forever".

The line lends more credence to the theory that the "Others" aren't actually alive, kind of like Chsistian Shepherd, Claire, ect. Perhaps by resurrecting Ben via the temple, a byproduct of such an action is he loses his soul so to speak.

No discussion of arguably the best episode yet to date!?!?!?!?

Wow, the Island spoke to Ben via his daughter's image, possibly revealing that Christian Sheperd is a manifestation of the island when he has appeared.

The Island wants Locke in charge and made sure Ben was on board with that. The smoke monster let Ben live after being judged.

Ben didn't know that Jack, Hurley, Sayid, Kate, Sawyer, Jin, and Miles were stuck in the 70's until he saw the dharma photo.

It looks like the Others are the caretakers of the island and part of it and Dharma is the unwelcome guest.

Where's Maximus and Wino? Need help making sense of all of it.

Agreed!!! Great episode!!! Maybe my favorate so far. Between this and the season 2 fanally. I was wondering why no one was talking about it as well. I am glad we are starting to get some answers. I am glad Penny is not dead. That was a big relief, because I was sure he killed her. I am also glad to see that it looks like Ben is the lesser of two evils.

he will, for the first time in the shows history Ben is humble and submissive, thanks to the island.

Remember his comment about how having Locke in charge "scares the hell out of him"

if he doesn't I'm sure the island or smoke monster will set him straight
