Is there anyone that still cares about this season?

The players do care (but will care less as the season goes on if we continue with just 1 win, Brentson Buckner has talked about this), but it's silly to believe Richardson DOES care. He has shown not one iota of caring towards this season. I can't think of one thing he has done that points to caring.

And blind fandom sounds all hardcore, but honestly, does it make any sense to care? Your argument for caring is basically: Because I do. Well, alrighty then. Jerry Richardson counts his billions of dollars off sheep and suckers like you. The team and ownership literally don't have to lift a finger towards winning this season and they're still not going to lose someone like you.

SMF as someone who doesn't care does that mean we'll be seeing you posting less?

im glad i didnt drop the $ on sunday ticket this season, thats for sure. i'll still listen to the games on sirius, hell i did that for years anyway. i will admit that i missed the 1st half of last week due to getting my mustang put back together, but i made it in for the 2nd half. something about sundays and panthers football just seems the way to go. i been doin it in whatever way i could since 95.. some habits are just hard to break, i guess.

i remember "watching" games on nfl.com's gamecenter. that was a little rough.

I love the notion that a guy who spent more money getting a team than some of us will make in our lifetimes, a guy who fired his own sons rather than let their conflict affect the team, a guy who his peers consider a leader and a man among men but also a man who always has tried - and still does try - to stay in touch with common fans...that guy, he one day just woke up and said 'aaahh, screw it' :nonod:

(Yeah...right)

We've already gone over this. He didn't just wake up and say "screw it" one day. He chose the precious league over the team. Extremely disappointing.

Oh, of course. So he just decided to gut the team in order to get other teams more wins, not because it was a good time to dump salaries and get better.

And when the labor situation gets straightened out, I'm guessing he'll continue this policy so that other teams can win while we just serve as a doormat.

(seriously, do you ever consider the logical consequences of some of the stuff you say?) :nonod:

Serious question then Mr. Scot: WHY? If the people that get paid to care don't care, if even the owner doesn't care, then why would someone that doesn't get paid a dime care about how a team performs where half the players will be jettisoned in the offseason? Why should we care? Because of that Panthers logo?

Because he's a fan; that's what they do.

A great man once told me "seriously, do you ever consider the logical consequences of some of the stuff you say?" I hope you meant to say something else.

And for you and everyone else that is still defending Richardson. If his strategy of dumping salaries was a wise one, why is he the only owner to have done so? His strategy has left us as one of the 3 worst teams in the league with no clear future ahead when we were 12-4 just 2 years ago.

You just said it: strategy. The other owners have different strategies and approaches to their franchises and the possible lockout. Hell, Richardson could be doing this just to clean up the team and not specifically for the lockout.

Stop defending JR. He doesn't care about the fans. He never has. Case in point? NFL logo in the middle of the field. Case in point? Boring stadium atmosphere, not allowing people to stand, etc. Case in point? Putting out a mediocre team every other year and never winning back to back. Case in point? Raising the ticket prices on PSL owners when he's throwing an INFERIOR product onto the field (even if it's strategy, who cares). Case in point? Letting a coach put Jake out there years after his prime. Case in point? Keeping a coach around who puts out a out-dated offense on the field for too many years when the league has evolved. Case in point? Hiring Browns staff castaways and expecting them to do anything.

We can debate about how much Fox sucks, this or that, or whatever, but it all rolls to JR. The fact is, problems with this team aren't new, we seen these coming from along way, and no one did anything.

He's going to make tons of money regardless of winning. I mean, half the stadium are the OTHER teams fans when they come to play us. Why care?

Why care? He's still making a ton of money, and that's his main focus, obviously, with his latest stance on things.

So if he fixes this team next year, which I doubt, spends money where needed, which I doubt, then maybe he'll redeem himself. I just haven't seen anything the last 8 years to make me think he cares about the fans.

Say what you want about Jerry Jones, and yeah, the Cowboys aren't doing well right now, but they usually have a competitive team yearly. He cares about the fans too. I hate them but that's how it is.

Stop defending JR.

Honestly, I don't care about defending him. Several people on this board are in "attack mode" right now and are ripping players, coaches and the owner to shreds right now because they are pissed off.

Me? I don't really have an opinion. Sure, I favor JR, but I don't really know what his "plan" is or his motivations for what he did, so I'm not going to speculate on shitty evidence and hearsay.

Everyone needs to step back and :chillpill:.

Interesting question OP. I actually changed the channel today during the third (not the first time) and I never went back (for the first time ever).

It was not their day and it will have to be their day, all of them, for their to be a chance to be competitive.

I have never turned away and not checked back and rarely have I ever turned the channel.

Today was pretty bad and it was not like it hurt too bad to watch or anything. I just felt like it was a waste of my time. I've never felt like that before.

I'll watch next week and the next after that it's just that now I know there is precedent for not guaranteeing exactly how long I will watch.

Yeah, how many super bowl wins do we have? How often are people excited about our team in the beginning of the year compared with them? They have crazy talent, and just bad coaching, but whatever. They had a ton of winning seasons in a row, before taking a few years to rebuild. Read my first paragraph.
