Moore back to his usual self.

IMHO Joe Montana could not win with this team.

It does not matter whether it is Moore, or Clausen.

The only factor is it is highly unlikely that Moore will be retained, depending on the offensive system that is brought in, he is a backup at best. He is not big enough to be big on the NFL big stage when it matters.

If that premise is accepted then Clausen will start again when John's forecast of aiming for 7-9 is out of reach.

To me, any coach who sets his sights on 7-9, as the high water mark, and who is being paid $6.5 million should be shown the door just on the premise of it.

Jerry saved his money by not giving another coach money and Fox too and Fox is laughing all the way to the golf course. Good for him.

Actually it did matter. When the team plays good Matt was at least capable of executing the game plan, while Jimmy was not ready. That much is obvious.

Doesn't matter if Moore threw 2 pics after we are down by 17 in the 4th quarter. The game was over. He played a solid game from the beginning until that point.

you and I saw two different games, PFFL. I saw an offense, and a quarterback, struggling to move the ball outside of the 2 minute offense, who threw picks when it DID matter. maybe that last one didn't, but yeah.

smith's fumble certainly did nail it, but we weren't exactly lighting it up before then.

no matter how you slice it, if he had been playing taht well we wouldn't have been in that situation late.

What? When you start the game with our first play on offense an int, thats solid!

i don't see wtf people are so surprised for. moore is garbage, he's been garbage all year. he has one good game and then cracks under pressure....again. even if moore manages some wins late in the season, i want him gone. just think if he could get us to the playoffs, he'd buckle under pressure. hell, he admitted it in an interview and they even said something about it during the game. the way he lobs the ball around is ridiculous. i thought that 2nd pick was tipped, but after review it looked clean (i could be wrong though). i'd rather him take a sack than rainbow it down the field like that. hell, i'd rather him just run into their end zone because it would just be fitting. i'd probably laugh at that and not scream at my tv and lose my voice.

with that being said....i don't have a clue who the answer is. i doubt we use a draft pick for a qb early, but you never know. clausen doesn't seem ready yet and might not be for a few years.

i wanted to puke while watching the pats game. i heard them say something about them having 2 first rd and 2 2nd round draft picks next year. now that is preparing for the future, not this mess JR is pulling.

wear black this sunday, go cats!

omg this thread is pointless.....you put any qb behind out offensive line and there instant garbage it starts up front first.....non existent running game...and probably the most drops in the nfl........let's fix the bigger problems first and MAYBE some of the other problems will be fixed as well

...bottom line fix the f**kin o line

Yeah but we were down by 7 before that play. We had 3 back to back GOOD drives that all stalled a lot in part because of dropped passes by Smith, including a catch out of bounds where he had the ball in his hands the entire time but when his back hit the ground the ball popped out.

Then prior to that another pass that bounced off his helmet. I'm sorry when a ball bounces off the body, helmet or hands of the receiver, 99% of the times I put that on the receiver. The only time I can see that not being an issue, is when the receiver has his back turned. But in this case, Smith was looking right at it.

Then we have him, admittedly, pressing in order to get yet another fumble.

Up until that point, the team was in this game. When that happened 3 points was all the Rams needed to win the game. That second touchdown wasn't even necessary when a field goal would have done it. But when an offense is having this much trouble, the ONE thing you try to do as a team, is not make stupid plays that puts you down by more than one score.

But seriously, aside from the first interception all the way to the 4th quarter how many missed throws, fumbles or missed opportunities did you see Matt have? To even try to say if he had played better we would have been in a better situation, you have to point out some plays where the receivers were there and Matt didn't put it in their hands.

I didn't see too many of those.

So are we not counting missed open receivers as missed opportunities? How about throwing it short on third downs? It's funny because Moore didn't want to take risks this game so we didn't move the ball... but instead we ended up with turnovers. =(

I think only one of Smith's drops was on a drive that had gone for more than one series, and I don't remember the details of it. Was that the helmet one? He was tripping as the ball arrived. Not making excuses, but yeah. He certainly played poorly today overall... but he wasn't alone. He was just the worst stench on an offense full of stinkers :(

The fumble was killer, but so too were the three interceptions... and that fumble came again on passing short of a third-and-5. The fumble itself is all on Smith; the playcalling and execution is on the OC and the entire offense, including Moore.

We can defend Moore all we want, but ultimately I saw a below-average performance from a player that is expected to do better as a starter in this league... but I can't say I'm surprised considering how crappy our O is overall.

last year when 3rd and long = run up the middle

this year when 3rd and long = 3 yard pass

i really don't know what this is about about
