I wouldn't mind a name change, but everything I've heard just sounds *****. Flight is great if you wear polo shirts. Dragons might sound cool if you're 13 and have a level 11 drow ranger. Getting the Hornets name back might appeal to you if you're living in 1989 still. And their colors are waaaay worse than the Bobcats. Green and teal? Is this a prom or a basketball game?

I've just heard nothing better suggested than Bobcats, and even Cougars would be a lateral move in the naming department.

Might be a lateral move, but the Cougars name has history in the area.

IMO, it should be the Carolina Cougars or the Charlotte Hornets. Anything else just won't cut it.

The cougars would be the best thing I've heard yet when it comes to changing the name.. Not sure thats the real issue here though. MJ and Management need to blow the team up and have an actual building plan put in place. The way the team is currently set up, the ceiling for this team is 40 wins and maybe and 8th seed at best. Blow it up, trade Jax, Diaw and DJ for picks. Get a young coach in, get MJ away from making the draft picks and Build the team over the next couple of seasons. If you get a good deal trade Wallace as well.

I know when I say this, I might get flamed but, why don't we go ahead and trade Wallace for the value he is and get a solid, young big man. Or Jax, doesn't matter. You might as well go ahead and get rid of those players while their value is still good. Maybe get a draft pick or two in the deal too.

SJax I can agree with, but Wallace is still the face of the franchise with some good years left. And do you really want to give the front office more picks to mess up?

I'd hate to see Wallace walk for anything less than an obvious upgrade with more years left in the tank. And we'd have to throw in other players for that to happen. :|

So would I, but they've got to do something to get in a position to get better long term...This current team has met its ceiling for sure. While I like Wallace as a player (he's my fav on the team by far) His contract isn't favorable and he has a lot of value in either getting a young player or two back with/or a couple of picks. I would rather see them trade Diaw, Nzar, DJ and Jax though for sure...I'd keep Wallace and TNT.

That's actually a valid point PSC. The name choices in the beginning weren't that great. The Flight is a go to for some because people like tying in Jordan and the whole first in flight thing...which is uhh I dunno. But to criticize the original Hornet's jerseys!! :eek: Its very 90s-esque, and maybe it should stay that way, but I liked em for what its worth.

The best suggestion I've heard honestly is Flyers...but yeah that's an NHL name so I dunno. I'll be honest at least and admit Bobcats is better than a good deal of team names: Raptors, Thunder, Pacers, Rockets. Its just a shame this topic comes up more than the product on the court...but there's clearly something wrong with the team image, heck the NBA's image, and something big needs to change along with winning to get fans consistently in the seats.
