Dallas media profiles John Fox

Mr. Scot

They're built for 3-4 and would have to start over. Cowher has a better chance at that job than Fox.

Fox wouldn't necessarily scrap a 3-4 to install a 4-3. He knows how it works and surely can work within its concepts. You have to adjust schemes to fit the personnel.

I doubt Cowher would go to Dallas. He wouldn't like Jones looking over his shoulder and being GM. Jerry wouldn't give up control.

Most regular-season wins in NFC since 2007

Coach Team Wins

Tom Coughlin Giants 35

Wade Phillips Cowboys 34

Mike McCarthy Packers 34

Brad Childress Vikings 32

Sean Payton Saints 32

Andy Reid Eagles 32

Ken Whisenhunt Cardinals 30

lol wow fox is really a great coach if just about half the fuging NFC is in front of him in wins since 2007.

also consider the fact that the Rams, Niners, Bucs, Seahawks, Falcons, Redskins, and Lions have all changed coaches in the midst of that span so that leaves Fox and Smith as two of the worst tenured coaches in the NFC, and at least the Bears are competitive this year and have a winning record right now

Anyone else notice the not-so-subtle Jake bashing in this article?

He’s taken Carolina to the NFC title game twice and the Super Bowl once (losing in 2003/2004 to New England in a very tight contest). And he did so with Jake Delhomme as his starting quarterback, which means that he may be a necromancer of some kind. Not just any coach can get to a Super Bowl with Jake Delhomme in charge.

If that is the only criteria then you would keep Phillips who is second on the list. Obviously that isn't the main criteria if they can him.

Plus how many of the guys listed are available next year as head coaches? It isn't who is the best but who is the best from who is available.

first of all if john fox went 13-3, 9-7, and 11-5 with a playoff win from 07-09 my opinion of him would be a little bit different, and so would yours, and so would Jerry's as well. second of all there are coordinators and assistants littered all over the league with much more potential and looking to make a name for themselves as opposed to Fox who would be a retread, which everybody seems to loathe on here with minimal exceptions

If all Jones wanted was a coordinator he has one already who could take over. I wouldn't pretend to know what Jerry wants or would do but I would expect that he would prefer a proven guy over an unproven one. I expect he is pretty impatient.

Fox is gone here and people here don't like him but everywhere else he gets pretty high marks. I could defintely see him getting an interview in Dallas. And if this team finishes above 6-10 this year he will get votes for coach of the year.
