Yes, in the current scheme, we have the 2nd best record in the conference and will end up with what is equivalent to the 4th seed playing the 1 seed Capitals in 2nd round.Β

Looks even worse when you compare leaguewide standings to the bracket...

Dallas, as the #3 overallΒ seed faces a top 10 team first round. Meanwhile, there is a scenario where Washington can lift the cup without ever facing a top 10 team.
