School buses doing 45mph in a 65mph

They can't go any faster. They can't go any faster. They can't go any faster. Did I mention they can't go any faster?

Yes they can. I know this because I've been on them. The drivers aren't allowed to go any faster therefore they should be on the side roads.

I don't understand what you are arguing about. We all agree that buses don't belong on highways going 20mph below the speed limit.

Okay, if you don't want a bus going 65mph, then keep them off the highway. That's all I'm asking. If a bus can't go faster than 45mph then they don't belong on a highway. Maybe the bus drivers need to "bite the bullet" and take the long way home.

Fine with me, but I seriously doubt the legislature would agree. It would increase fuel cost, time that the drivers spend driving (therefore increasing their pay), and if the rule applies when they are taking the kids to school, then the time to get to school.

My brother use to drive one. I rode to school with him. He drove the thing as fast as it would go, which was about 35 mph. They can now do about 45, maybe 55 if they want to push it because of the gear ratio. Although running it at 55 would damage the engine if done for more than a short time.

Me being frugal has nothing to do with it. If it was up to me, I would say put all the kids in armoured cars to go to school. I seriously doubt you are going to get the legislature to agree to something that is going to increase cost. But you are certainly welcome to try, it would be interesting to see the results.
