John Fox Proved Me Wrong Sunday

The Pope

Only a third of the league has a coach that coached in a Superbowl, so some team will make him a head coach. After taking a 1-15 team to a Superbowl in 2 seasons, yeah, he will be picked right up.

If he turns this team around and we go 7-9 he should get votes for coach of the year. He will have done exactly what owners of rookie laden young teams want in a head coach. Take a bunch of inexperienced guys and mold them into a team that plays hard and doesn't quit. He will get a HC job this year.

Wouldn't be surprised if he takes most of his staff with him.

schotty went 12-4 and got fired that year. everyone thought he would be a shoe in for a job. where is he now?

just beacause you are a well loved coach doesn't mean that you will get a job in a job climate that prefers youth, energy, and an aggressive and innovative brand of football.

of course mangini got hired right away but consider who it was that hired him.

also...i don't have a problem with him taking his whole staff. there are some coaches that i like but they are all replaceable. hopefully the new coach will do a much better job of scouting and bringing in coaching talent.

14-2 his last year, and he decided to take time off to spend with his wife. He turned down interviews at Tampa and Detriot

thats right. i stand corrected. i don't recall him turning down interviews though considering it was tampa and esp. detroit, i'm not really surprised.

damn, i wonder how bummed the giants are about beating the 1-5 cowboys? That must have really sucked.

Surely, the cowboys would have won by double digits had romo stayed in the game.

lol

Hmmm...maybe we can get Wade Phillips as our DC and Norv Turner as our OC next year. I wouldn't even care much who the HC was if that happened.

now this we can agree on at this point in time.. Matter of fact, I'd love to be KC right about now.. (and I think we have better potential at QB)

Marty told me on Sirius radio when I asked would he coach the Panthers if offered the job, and he said, he would coach anywhere again right now if he had more control than just head coaching duties. I think Aj Smith broke him on dealing with gm's when he was so willing to deal Brees

And for years after he turned down requests for interviews. In addition Shottenheimer is 67 years old. Fox on the other hand is 55 which is a big difference.

I said in the past he was just riding it out and did'n give him damn about the team this year. I admit it now i was wrong I see how the players respond to him and see him on the sidelines he still got that fire and wants to win.

TY Coach Fox for proving me wrong now lets keep winning!!

it's understandable people get pissed because some people are saying he doesn't care to win, but it's not far fetched to assume he's not as motivated as he was walking in to the job with a name to make for himself.

Foxy was great for us early in his tenure, but just like in games, he didnt make any halftime adjustments in his coaching philosophy and thats why game strategy today is passe and sucks. I do agree his teams dont quit though.

I cant imagine any owner today would look at his track record and say they need to hire him as a HC much less wanting his staff. But when he goes he can definitely take that dumb SOB that informs him to challenge a call.

If he has success as a HC somewhere else you better fire Hurney's ass the next day but thats another thread.
