John Fox Proved Me Wrong Sunday

what else would you call 2 months of negative results? fakism?

I have no problem with people being upset with subpar results. It was people making dramatic and drastic conclusions based on said results and stating them as fact that was the problem for me.

he almost looked like someone who cared about finding a job after this year. he's going to need a whole lot more than beating the 49ers by 3.

John Fox will find a job in no time. Every football insider that has ever mentioned John Fox, raves about how well respected his is around the league.

I don't think this "lame duck" thing has had any effect whatsoever on how he coaches. These guys are constantly auditioning for a job, whether it's to keep their current jobs or for the next opportunity. Don't believe all the BS you hear and read in the media.

I get that.. the dramatic and drastic conclusions is what irritates me as well... goes both ways..

remember that yourself. i haven't been paying attention to what anyone is saying about him. i don't really care.

the biggest knocks that he has going against him is hiring trends the past few years. i've said it over and over. the vast majority of teams aren't hiring retreads. most of them are looking for young and fresh HCs. thats whose getting hired. the fact that he is an old school coach isn't going to help him much. the league is changing away from the type of football that he plays. it's a lot more aggressive.

there will probably be a good few HC jobs that come open this coming year, as many as 7 or 8. all but one or two of those teams will be hiring new coaches. the retreads are going to have some pretty stiff competition vying for those couple spots. you have cowher and gruden who will very likely be looking for jobs. billick is also probably an option. there will also be several coaches let go this year that fox will have to compete with. the very least of which is norv turner and marvin lewis.

his best bet for a job is the browns....maybe the jaguars. long shot, going to san diego.

Honestly, I really don't care what Fox does when he leaves here, but I do believe he will find a job quickly, even if he goes back to DC. Honestly, I believe he would actually prefer that because he wouldn't have to deal with the media on a daily basis.

Anyway, if all of this shakes out and we get a chance to hire Norve Turner as our OC, I would be esctatic.

agreed about not really caring where fox goes after here. he'll be someone else's issue if he's an HC or someone else's asset as a DC.

norv as an OC here...i could get into that. him or weiss i would be a fan of if we go with a young defensive minded coach. not my first choice but i could certainly deal with it.

Only a third of the league has a coach that coached in a Superbowl, so some team will make him a head coach. After taking a 1-15 team to a Superbowl in 2 seasons, yeah, he will be picked right up.
if that was a more recent event it would carry more weight. lots of mediocre seasons and a resistance to change/adjust/adapt may carry more weight.
